Engineers Cracked Industrial Firmware

Need help finding the best place to get cracked industrial firmware. Spent about 4 days in Quince trying to get them and managed to to get about 3 (which is 9). Need more for what I am doing but the drop rate is so bad.

Anyone have any better suggestions?

Why do they have to make it so damn difficult to get cracked industrial firmware. I am not the best in the SRV and its a pain to attack medium security bases or higher, especially alone. Missions I have found only give me 1 CIF literally 1. Not the multiplied by 3 scenario.

And I am sick of looking at Quince. I'd like to play, and not have to grind for literally hours for a percentage of a chance that I may find it. This is party the reason why I still have 1/2 my engineers locked...

You shouldn't be attacking them. Don't do high-sec bases, they usually have a large trespass zone, so do some medium-sec bases. Find the med-sec bases without a large trespass zone and them it's just a matter of driving around and scanning the datapoints. You can usually do one in 5 mins. it'll take longer to fly to the next base.

I've been getting fairly consistent quantities of CIF from data missions (even some doubles) since the update

But something is definitely bugged with the spawn rates. I did some base scans this weekend for CIF. I got 50+ Modified Embedded Firmware (Grade 5!) and only 6 Cracked Industrial Firmware (Grade 3).

Echo Wake - open up YouTube and search for 'How to base running' by Mini - it'll teach you how to run a base.
You will need to 'git gud' with the SRV, but I found that a fun exercise*, and I didn't realise until afterward but I was honing my skills for conquering tricky terrain and accurately sticking landings as well - stuff that I wouldn't even have attempted six months ago is now trivially easy to me.

Theres also a list of bases in the medium security settlement thread in this very forum.

I don't even care if I don't get CIF when I run a base because it means I get to go run another one! If I do all the bases on the list in the medium security settlement thread, I generally end up with about 50 CIF (give or take - I've done worse, but also better!) and that would take me a couple or three evenings of play - I don't find it grindy at all, and I can always quickly get my hands on enough for a good few rolls on DD5. Now, Exquisite focus crystals on the other hand........

*In fact, the SRV is now my favourite ship - all that spaceship stuff is becoming almost incidental! I'd love for there to be more and larger bases, and more varied ways of gathering planetary materials, and I often go mountain climbing just for fun (but only because there's no exploration missions that require you to do it!

I usually go to LTT 9846 (I think) - there are 3 systems close to each other where you can often get delivery/courier missions with CIF showing up regularly. If you are allied with all the factions and they get into Boom states, you can get alot of it and EFC and the like pretty handily.

Not sure its faster than base scanning, but less hassle IMO.

If you want to board jump you can just scan the satellites around any of the Capital Ships (http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Capital_Ship_Dock). After scanning just re-log under a different mode and re-do it. I used to collect CIF's from missions and ground scanning, but after so many ships to upgrade and testing of weapons engineerings, it really got old always having to spend so much time getting basic things so I resorted to using this quicker method as I don't have a lot of game time available to play, but I want to test out different weapon experimentals, so this helps me get them quicker.

If you aren't into the board jumping (same deal with missions) then get some surface scan missions and do those because you get paid while scanning...

And where is that?

Around Maia during the recent CG, I ran a few missions when I got bored hauling stuff, essentially your rep with local factions builds during a CG so you get offered better missions, I picked up around 20 EFC's and 10 CIF just by surfing through the available missions in the area.
