Crafting & Crew

Would you like a crafting mechanic for your crew? Let's say you could buy a laboratory module with fancy computers and stuff and your crew (that we have to pay anyway all the time) could build various materials. You could chose which materials or data they should build with some necessary basic ingredients that you got before. Different Crew members have different skills which help them build certain materials and better modules let you create them faster. A big ship would also have more room for more people and laboratories. You could buy some basic ingredients at stations or go mining for the real good stuff. You get the idea. Would this be something that should be in the game?
