Horizons Crash Site

Hi all. I have been doing a lot of normal space cruising on planets/moons searching for volcanic activity and as a result I am watching what the POI's do. The POi's for volcanic (and alien life) all have specific sizes/shapes/behaviors. Volcanic POI's start and stay VERY VERY SMALL..

But, I ran into a POI's that didn't match anything cataloged as volcanic or alien life or other things I could find whose POI has been documented in any search I have done.

So, here is a couple screen shots and a long uncut video at original resolution. >>> https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AdvLLXYQOgbVgNbIPvbuB1kDsD8Tba77?usp=sharing <<<

I posted the complete video in hopes that someone else would notice something I missed. The interesting part starts at about 12 minutes and is very interesting at 12:50-13 minutes.

The POi started at 2 rings (linear scale long range) and shrank to about 1/3 a ring long range.

Hi D.D. I've been meaning to post in the vulcanism thread about this, some of the POI behaviours have changed recently, it used to be that the mineral deposits were huge first then shrank, now they start off medium, grow to huge and shrink to a slightly larger POI that grows as you get over the top, the POI for wrecks has also changed so previous recording of POI behaviour is probably best taken as needing updating. I haven't come across a bio POI yet so I don't know If they have changed as well. Out in the black I haven't come across many wreck POI's but have seen a few skimmer wreck POI's that start out about 2 rings, grow just large enough to fill the entire display then shrink to smallish POI that grows larger and jumps around as you get over the top.

My previous list of behaviours should be replaced as we see different behaviour, to be honest I have been expecting an update but not until the new exploration stuff came out later in quarter 4, but maybe they are just testing out and adjusting a few minor things as we get closer.

So you are correct, you are seeing unexpected behaviour recently, as am I.

This one happened before the last update, but, I have always thought the DEV's were sneaking stuff in without notice or actual update needed.

Yes I don't know when they actually changed, I was doing a quick run into the bubble from around 10kly out to do some engineering before the update and after engineering I noticed the changed behaviour but I thought It might have been bubble related, POI's you don't see out in the black, but now I am back out there I am still seeing the same changed behaviour, so a weekly update must have snuck in some server side changes before the update.

I've run into those small POI's which resolved as a crash site before, probably on a couple of occasions.

I too had read that they represented volcanic activity, so I was quite disappointed... :D

This was quite a while back now, when I was doing lots of kill skimmer missions, so it's been in the game for a while (I'm talking months, as I haven't played for a while, and it was quite some time before that when I was doing skimmer missions).

Well, unless it has changed, the POI for volcanic activity is much smaller than the POI in the video and it starts very small and stays very small.

When i was doing planetary salvage and element collections and collecting skimmers bounty's I saw one of the very small POI's and ignored it. Now I cannot remember where it was.

Now though I ran across a very weird POI that started humongous (filled the whole scanner), shrank to about 2 rings on liner scale, blinked, then shrank to the very small size of a volcanic but what i found was a mesorite deep in the bottom of a canyon. Here is a link to about 30 minutes of video.. >> https://drive.google.com/open?id=1apMxrFHhU2hS9OEcRsUbOrVoUlXJz4M8 <<< give it a bit of time for google to process it. This appears to be something that is persistent.

I also have 30 minutes of video of a similar event, though the POI was bigger than the one in the link above but smaller than the lone at the crash site. that lead to 2 mesorites and I destroyed one of them and the POI disappeared.
