Crashed Krait in the middle of nowhere bug. Nice, liked it.

Interesting, never saw this happen.
Literally in the middle of nowhere near Galactic Core I land on a random planet and see a crashed ship! pretty cool :) I spotted something big on the ground when I was flying over and went for a closer look.

Just looking at the pictures, I'm honestly not sure if the ship is actually "crashed" or if it's just an NPC's hilariously bad attempt at landing their ship somewhere (as they tend to do).

There's no trail of displaced rock/ice behind the ship, nor is there a trail of wreckage (lose cargo, chunks of hull debris, etc...). It's actually kinda odd for a crashed ship.

Anyone and everyone who material hunts on a planet has from time to time come across either parked or crashed NPC ships. Personally I've come across a couple of dozen myself. Shooting the parked ones can be an adventure when they wake up and lift off only to come at you from the air. With no place to go or hide, it's a challenge to get away.

yeah i know but was a nice surprise being that I was out in the middle of nowhere. Made my expedition a bit more interesting I suppose.

Although I've been finding some really interesting planets lately. This one is great

The ship was labeled "system security", or something like that, right? I see those ships landed all throughout the galaxy, no matter where I am. They're just landed, not crashed. I'm honestly not sure if it's a bug, but if it's intended it doesn't really make any sense.

Another lost opportunity. FD could have ships such as these sprinkled about and turn it into a mission as someone suggested, with NPCs hounding you as you try to turn in mats/data/recovered escape capsule.

Variety.

Umm they do, well you just described one of those random Tip Off missions where you are given the coordinates for a crash site and go retrieve/scan the wreckage. Most don't do them because they don't pay that much, but notwithstanding that fact, those missions already exist.

See the above Cmdr's finding many of them, and well, many they are, more than you would think, all sleepers, they are in the millions, distributed through the entire Galaxy, sleeping... waiting on that final call....

....VOLUUUUUUUUUTION

;)

I've been on tip-off missions (which I ignore as a waste of time), it's not the same as finding wrecks unexpectedly (with something added). Tip-offs offer little variation, as you stated and I agree that the experience/pay is poor in relation to the time involved.

My point was the lack of spontaneity, which becomes one of the issues affecting play over time (at least for me).

You're probably right. I feel like if crashed it would be nose down, unless it crashed in reverse

I've ran into a few 'crash' sites with a scannable data bank while out near the core/Colonia in the past. It always brings a little smile, 10KLy from anywhere and undiscovered (probably because the crashed ship couldn't sell the data...) - it certainly helps make the black a little more 'alive' :)
