Crashed ship indicator - nowhere near ship :-/

I've been finding my way to the Thargoid machine over the last few days (with some help from Obsidian Ant's videos) and this involved fetching an Unknown Artifact from a crash site. As I approached the planet in question I noted with some relief that the crash site was indicated and I would not have to play the North a bit, South a bit, East a bit West a bit co-ordinates game.

Wrong! The indicator appeared to be nowhere near the crash site so I used Ant's co-ordinates and after some 20 minutes and the near destruction of 2 already clapped out 58 year old eyeballs I made it to the site. Not only are the numbers a bit small for me, but juxtaposed against the bodywork of my Anaconda's hull, they are pretty tricky to discern.

Anyway, assuming I'm not doing something daft, (presumptuous, I know) :) Why is the site not located with the HUD indicator?

Cheers.

Welcome to one of the many bugs :)

I took a passenger mission out to one of the original crashed ships, only to find that not only was the beacon underground it was moving as well.

There may have been a sweary or three.

It's a bug. If you're at the same planet I went too, go here;

Crash site at HIP 17403 Planet A4A -34.9 -141.4

Edit, helps if I finish reading your post. :D

On the crashed thargoid ships there is only one tourist beacon which is in orbit. The coordinates are still to be applied. At barnacles and the new
Structures recit it once the data is scanned to have a point in the navigation. This is unfortunately not the case with the crashed thargoid ships.

Yeah i had that. Just follow the coords ignore the marker which is apparently 4k underground. Unless theirs a really cool elaborate cave system somewhere!

This is very old news now. There have been 3 or 4 other threads on the subject as well as a bug report.
