Crashed ship trespass

I thought I'd take a ganders at a crashed ship POI, so I flew down and drove over and gained a fine for trespass. Meh, nothing I can do about that now. Then a few seconds later, that progressed to more fines and a bounty.

Ok then. A little unclear that was going to happen, and a little irritating. What's the point of these POIs? Is there something super valuable down there that it's worth going through the hassle of getting a bounty for looking at?

Some of them are tip-off locations, where you can get a data core scan worth about a million credits / cargo racks with materials / unusual salvage.

Not a lot of money nowadays, but then the trespass bounties are fairly small too.

You get fines and/or bounties only if the system is inhabited. I land at impact sites quite often, get warned I'm in a trespass zone, blow away the sentinel(s), scan the data and leave. No fines because the system is anarchy (i.e. no inhabitants, no government, no authorities). The data is sometimes the type you need for engineering modules, other times it's an intel package you can sell at a station; I usually get about 1,700 CR for it, no big deal. But it's fun to shoot down the sentinels with the new Scorpion SRV.
