Crashed Thargoid Mother Ships

Now that we know what they are (or were), something just popped into my head (not, not THEM).

On those grounded hive ships discovered so long ago, activating the inner chamber would fire up a star map.

Since these stargoids have shown up and since we're now able to nudge up close and personal to them, has anyone been to any of those crash sites to see if there's been a change, maybe to the map inside?

Personally, I doubt it would change as all of our collective attention would be towards the Thargoid invasion, but I was curious to know if anyone's been there to check. If not, I may have to run out to one of them myself.

Difficult not to wonder if this is a ripe area for change. Keep eyes peeled perhaps...
Well, I don't have any of the corrosion resistant stuff to get inside but I will probably take a look out there this weekend to one of them and see if there's anything to alert anyone for.

Personally, I was actually half expecting something to light up after update 14 drops and nothing happened there either. Of course I was also hanging out one star jump away from the COL 70 sector just in case that opened up, and of course it didn't. But who knows maybe update 16 will cause something to light up.

There is no change in the activity at the sites and a few of us have activated them, although I'm not sure if anyone has done it to do something other than make a couple of grelics since U15, as getting the Thargoid Probes is time-consuming.
Have a look for yourself and maybe join us in the race!

I'd essentially have to start the process of obtaining corrosion-resistant cargo racks from scratch since I never bothered with that particular grind, but I could just wander out to, I guess, any crashed hive ship (since we now know that's what they are) and see if they're doing something or if it is still just a playground for us to toy with to get a pretty picture of the galaxy.

If I were FD, that star map would have changed to indicate 8 "special" things.

And I wonder if the Titans are similar in design to the crashed motherships or a new generation :)

Because, if they were similar, we would know what's inside.
I suspect they are, so to get inside, we'd need a small sidewinder (can't launch an SRV in space) with the correct items already on board, get it close to where we know the "doors" are supposed to be and hope that the tunnel is wide enough to get the ship in there (and back out).

Or, some BRAVE soul gets out there with a Tharg sensor tethered behind them, knock on the door and shout "PIZZA!"

Well, it WOULD be a good excuse for EVA missions.

Fyi, you don't need CRCRs. You can just carry it... chances of having the cargo hatch fail with just one is relatively low. Carry a bunch of sacrificial limpets if you're really worried.

Ok, just so the story doesn't end without an ending, checked out the crashed mother ship at HIP 19026 (near Maya), no changes, scavengers still cleaning stuff off the thing, nothing is "glowing with anticipation that help might be on the way," etc.

Not true!
The sites have totally changed.....!!!!!

In the old days the doors just "whooshed" open. Now they lazily part - meaning that when you try to hurry through them, you clip the side and spin all over the place!
Secondly the corridors have become much narrower, so that you accidently drive up the side walls when trying to turn, sometimes so badly that your SRV falls over on its back, like a helpless turtle.

Worst of all though - the rooms have a mind of their own! You're hurrying down towards the link room when suddenly a rock or one of the "puffer mushroom things" leaps under your tires causing your SRV to spin and sometimes end up upside down again. After righting yourself and dusting yourself off - guess what! The room has magically moved. No longer where it's supposed to be, it's now somehow behind you even though I know I flipped back over in the right direction. Damn those cunning Thargoids!!!!

Sounds like Tom Baker (Dr. Who) was busy playing with his sub-dimensional physics again.*

*One episode had him, his friend and one of his own people, wandering through the TARDIS and with all three of them going through a different door along with hallway, they all came into the middle of the same room. The Doctor's boss said "One of these days you REALLY have to get your sub-dimensional physics in order."
