Crashes before splash screen

I'm unable to launch the game in VR now. Crash reporter comes up before splash screen appears. Anyone else having this problem?

I did see someone else mentioning turning directional shadows down from 'ultra' but that made no difference for me

EDIT: nvm, just seen a message that fdev are aware.

Yes, fortunately good old legacy works. I did want to try the live version again now that I'm more familiar with how ED works (imho the UI in 4.0 is not a welcoming place for new players), but again Elite Dangerous seems hellbent on not wanting me to play it.

Had the same problem but found the solution in the "EDO VR not working at all" thread.

The solution is:

Try setting your directional shadows to anything other than Ultra. Apparently this issue has been introduced in U16. You will have to do that outside VR, of course.

A big thanks to Helmut for that. I would never have found that by myself.

Yes, I saw that. An amazing find. Unfortunately it doesn't work for everyone. I've already tried it and it didn't work, but there's a thread in the news section saying that fdev are aware.
