CQC Crashes? Or is it just me?

A couple of times while playing in DM or TDM yesterday evening, my entire PC would hang (including sound, which is jarring) requiring a full reset to reboot, not even a crash to OS or a BSOD.

Question - has anyone else experienced this? I never get crashes like this on my PC (Win7 64bt, 8GB RAM, pretty capable setup) when playing the main ED game or anything from my Steam library... It's just CQC so far.

It was extra frustrating yesterday when I was 5s away from winning a round of DM, all that XP lost :-(

I was playing in a wing with CMDR Ahnoh and CMDR Jinerin in a private group, and we had a similar issue. Last night we were all doing ALD ceremony missions fighting in a low intensity conflict zone and sound would skip and stutter before crashing, followed shortly by the game freezing. We each have fairly top end computers (mine has a gtx 980) and all 3 of us would begin to lag and loose sound at the exact same time until we all crashed. Appears this issue is at least partly server side.

Same here!!! Mine freezes up whenever I select an item on the start menu. As soon as the option is clicked - FROZEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking about it, I'm running WIN 8.1 all patched up on an ASUS ROG system. Just prior to my system deciding to freeze up when starting ED, I installed Piriform's CCleaner and did a registry clean. I'm guessing that maybe this blew away something in the registry that is causing ED to freeze up?? Just thinking!!

Not a lock up. But in cqc I get a 2 second freeze once in a while. Every 5 maybe 10 Minutes. I could not say it was lag.

After installing ED several times and locking up 100% of the time, I took the system back to the factory settings and then patched everything that needed updates. I then installed ED and KABOOM- LOCKED UP!!!!!!!! I took the computer back to factory once more. But this time I didn't patch/update anything. I reinstalled ED and TA-DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It worked fine. I then updated windows- ED check OK! . I then updated ASUS apps - ED check OK!! My last update was the video driver for the GTX860 - ED check - KABOOM - LOCKED UP AGAIN!!!!! So I grabbed the previous video driver and - TA-DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Works fine.
ED is happy, I'm happy. Had I rolled back the video driver when all this started I could've saved myself a bunch of frustration!!
