crashes tonight

Sent a few more crash reports in today, just had one where by i had just loaded up multiplayer and was spawned in a hangar in the port and i looked at my credits and kiils info screen to the right and when i looked forward again, bam i was presented with a crash report screen which i duly sent in with a supporting ticket as it requests.

Im running at 2560x1080 screen resolution and not sure how many others are running this so this may help find any issues relating to that as well.

Pleased i can help trying to find any niggles i can.

Its frustrating I know, but dont forget you are taking part in an anything goes COMBAT Alpha test. Being attacked is not being griefed. PvP combat is the whole point in this phase of the game's development
They set up a PVP area for those who want to PVP, they set up an PVE area for those who want to PVE. It's the players that make it "anything goes". I purposely stayed out of the PVP area hoping this wouldn't happen, I will say it was more frustrating because of the other issues I was having with the game (ie: just finally got so I could actually play).

I killed one or two people yesterday not even knowing they were other players. They a red target and were at 0% when their name came up as alpha backer #... So if you died yesterday, small chance it was me and if so it was a mistake.

Sent a few reports in today.
Had a few slowdowns that forced me to quit the game, and a bunch of crashes.

Just glad to hear it happens to others also so it isnt just my bad computer who isnt up to the job =)

Of all that, the only thing that really bothers me is the griefing. The game is in Alpha, so game glitches are expected. Human players griefing other players is why I don't ever play PVP games. If this is typical for this game, I wasted a lot of money for nothing.

If I'm shooting at you I'm not griefing. I'm trying to see how specific movements work against a player instead of an AI (I'm already starting to be able to predict specific flight patterns given specific elements.

I don't memorize backer numbers so I can't tell if the person I'm shooting at is the same or not.

Fighting another player is miles different than shooting at an AI, and for the sake of being alpha it pretty much doubles the "net code" and is a good testing tool.

Also, I don't have a Cobra or anything really super powerful so it's unlikely you'd die at my hand... yet.

That being said, over the weekend I was PvEing at the Fed and noticed my framerate dove from ~120 down to about 15, I had to kill the game.

It really seems to be acting up for me right now, been trying to start it up but first 3 tries ended in crashes and then i managed to get in but with a slideshow framerate and unplayable!

Anything goes

Please search the forum where the developers explain what they ask from the alpha build testers.

You are not here to play a game. You are here because the developers gave you access to help them find bugs by any means u have to your disposal (yes even hacking is allowed) and then report about your findings. That the current build feels like a game is because they have done great work to give the alpha testers a view on their vision of what is to come.
So don't hold back. Don't deprive you of the chance to find a bug or unwanted game mechanic. Put your findings in the ticket system and discuss your findings on the alpha discussion forum.

So shake off the idea that everyone is against you and adapt to the idea that everyone in the alpha build is there for the same purpose as you are.

Enjoy.

I totally agree. However, as others have said the point of the alpha is to demonstrate all play styles, hacking, exploits and glitches. I think the majority of Alpha is about bringing up exceptions more than standard gameplay.
Without them some may slip through into further incarnations/release versions.
This includes undesirable gameplay. Granted they obviously know 99% of it but even if just a few things can be addressed or seen as needing addressing it benefits everyone down the road. This includes game balancing. Yes, little exists now but to what extents are needed might be a little more clear from testing out of the office? At least that is my hope. That said I don't generally grief span points or even at all (intentionally) in co-OP/Federal Bond. I know others have and as undesirable as it may be I hope some good came from it or it was just wasted effort. It's hard to know what helps FD and what doesn't but I believe the official word is that it all helps and there are no rules. Trust that eventually there WILL BE some checks & balances, some penalties and inherent risk in what you are talking about, griefing.

I noticed the same lags and crashes as others have reported, as well as the player PvP goings on in Fed Combat Bond and the asteroid field. I was killed several times, and normally it wouldn't have bothered me at all except for what had happened to me just prior.

I had just bought my first Cobra Mk III, and was very excited. The engine sounds were different and awesome, the interior was larger and impressive, and I could feel the power as I fired it up inside Zelada. I eased it out of the station peeled upward and right at about a 45-45 degree vector and hit the afterburner...and immediately exploded into a hundred pieces as I hit an invisible barrier. As I sat there in disbelief, my jaw dropped into my lap as I stared at the red Old Loadout button. I was just over 100 credits short of getting my new Cobra back. The moral of the story - ALWAYS ensure you have enough in the bank to get your shiny new ship back, even if you're only taking it for a joyride.

My PvP deaths were in the free, stock Sidewinder. I just didn't have a lot of fight left in me...

Well I have been watching steadily growing trend in the asteroid belt... If I see a Cobra there they are usually up to no good... I have seen one tail another cobra for about 5 minutes matching is every roll and move... and then unloads on him without provocation... I try to defend the one getting griefed like that if I can.. unless the other guy has a bounty

The last few hours have been unplayable for me for some reason. Either severe framedrops or crashes at random.

Calling it a night and looking forward to getting some hours in outside of peaktimes, seems to work alot better then =)

Also I'll have to add that after 2 deaths my Credits went from 30K to 10K... with my rebuy only being 2.4k... something is not right there...

Aaaahhh was in the middle of a fight with a player with a large bounty and the framerate dropped! By the time it started getting better the other player had vanished. :(

Yeaa me too. I've had a whole bunch or crash issues.
The single player scenarios are perfect, I had no problems there at any time.
Multiplayer however has been pain.. I had a day or so of fun with it and then issues started..

Multiple cruisers stacking up and spinning around each other like clock hands.
Actual game crashes, mid-dogfight
Amazingly poor FPS (like 2-3 fps) just suddenly occurring and not recovering.

Tried a few things like uninstall and reinstall, updates etc.
Guess it will get fixed sooner or later.. sooner hopefully :)

otherwise loving the game though, looking good so far.

I think most of those are server instances and are known bugs, you go to log a support ticket and click New ticket it lists these as known bugs so a reinstall will not help in this issue.

I have seen lots of new Alpha players. Probably, increased crashes frequency, performance drops and latency issues are related to the increased number of players.
