Crazy Challenge @ Colonia

Uhm, I somehow accidentially did this a few days back ^^;

It was my first visit at the Planet of Death and I had not much idea what to expect. I read about it, that you have to land when the planet is far away and then stay in the SRV because the ship will getting destroyed otherwise.
However, it was getting boring so I wanted to look what my ship is doing, if it is melting when I enter or whatever, but nothing happened.

And then suddenly the stars in front of me where starting to move and I was like "what is going on here?" o.ô;

So I stayed where I was and watched in fascination. Dumb luck I guess? The planet was missing the cone and I had a fantastic view.

Luckily the PS4 is capturing all the stuff on their own:

Hope it went well Nutter.

PPS: I hate White Dwarfs.

Been busy the last few weeks, but I'm setting off now.

Slapped a bit over 7k hull on my vette, will see how it goes.

Rushed the first attempt and tried to reach the planet as it was nearing the white dwarf, grossly under estimating it's closing speed. Things did not go well for the Violent Delights.

On the plus side, I now know that 7k hull will last about two hours in the particle cone (I eventually engaged silent running to see how hot I could get before popping), so surviving on the surface, while landed, should be a piece of cake.

Being secured on the surface does prevent the ship from being pushed by the exclusion zone.

Watched (well sort of speed-watched) your attempt and I must say, that "sunset" towards the end is really spectacular! Good work for "science".

Reboots obviously doomed to failure, but I wonder why the HRPs weren't being cannibalised for repairs.

Bug: well, it saved you a rebuy (not really an issue in these VO-rich times) and the ship can be preserved for posterity :D

HRPs aren't cannibalized because they don't have actual module integrity and can't be repaired with an AFMU; they just add to the total hull integrity pool.

I'll probably make another, exploit-free attempt (now that I've identified the exact difference between function and apparent intent), using triple shielded A7 AFMUs and a lot of synthesis to repair each other for the whole duration I'm in the jet cone.
