Creating Dark Spaces

Obviously I'm well aware of how darkness in dark rides is achieved but the current methods definitely have its flaws:

1. Using the terrain is the simplest method, however it just isn't feasible as it usually takes up a lot of additional space just to get the terrain thick enough.

2. While I've been successful in using Ride Cam Time Machines on a previous ride with only some brief dark ride elements, it's still not fit for a ride that's completely enclosed. You can only trigger it for no longer than two minutes and then even if you set it to trigger again afterwards, most of the time it just won't work.

However, as some may know, one of the updates from earlier last year supposedly added the ability to create pitch black areas with minimal terrain. Amid my resulting hallelujahs for this godsend, this was quickly removed because understandably, this was causing a lot of people some ugly black shadows. But what I thought I'd ask is was it classified as a bug? Because if not, then why not add it back as an option (found in the game play tab in settings, same as the collision tools), because while some people didn't like this, some others definitely did. :D

That all being said, I purely just started this thread because I just love building dark rides and Frontier have already blessed us with triggered effects and lighting, as well as the ability to fine tune all of those things with ease (fuelling my interest in set design) so if they can somehow find a way to actually make a dark ride well...dark...without relying on piles of terrain, then that'll just be the icing on the cake that's an already incredible game. I ran into trouble with the Ride Cam Time Machine misbehaving as well and i found a sure fire option to make it work:

You need two triggers for this, one directly when the vehicle starts moving, as close as possible to be registered. Set this Trigger to the Time Machine and choose "Activate on Tigger". Then the second Trigger you also set to the Time Machine and choose "Deactivate on Trigger" this time. And voila, you are Set, no matter how long the Ride will take.

Thanks for that! That's a much more elegant solution than any I've tried ;)

Works like a charm! :D
