Creators stream featuring OA and others...

Haven't noticed this reposted here...Obsidian Ant, Yamiks, DJ.Truthsayer, Xigious and a few others comment on the recent trip to FDev amongst other stuff.

Usual sweary word disclaimer...since The Yamiks is involved [yesnod] . It's a long piece, but full of very interesting discussion throughout.

I was encouraged by their enthusiasm for the new update, especially these new things that haven't been publicly announced yet :D

They did say they were worried about Squadrons, but I personally don't have any vested interested in those. I'm a lone wolf for the vast majority of my gameplay.

A nearly 3 hour video of guys yammering about all the things that they can't talk, I'll pass. Frontier only invited these guys to "peak behind the curtain" because they desperately need to generated some good will with the community. But why exactly can Frontier show these guys what's coming and no one else? If they want to create some genuine good will with the community then they should just put their cards on the table for everyone not a select few.

Here's some other things that would help: stop over-selling "exciting things" that are half-baked and underperform when delivered. Still need to create some more good will? How about learning how to balance game play without nerfing things into oblivion. While they're at it they could start being a bit more earnest about patching bugs. The last patch we got was over three weeks ago and it seems there isn't going to be any patches until 3.3 drops if I'm interpreting the following correctly:

I could go on and on, but all these horses have already been beaten to death many times over. Meanwhile, Frontier just keeps on being Frontier. For example, they pulled this very same stunt a little over a year ago:

The problem then? Horizons was well behind schedule and the community was losing faith in Frontier. So Frontier invited some content creators for an exclusive look behind the scenes at their office.

I hate to break it to Frontier but these people that got these special invites, they didn't purchase Elite: Dangerous for me. They don't play the game for me on my account. It doesn't matter to me one bit what you do to try and impress them. What matters to me is what is in the game and what's behind the game and to be honest, lately I'm just not that impressed anymore.

Hey...don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player [where is it]

I deliberately didn't post any opinions in the repost, mainly because I have none... secondly since the stream broaches many current topics surrounding E-D from a distinctly negative perspective and only approaches the recent visit to FDev as an afterthought and as a topic of only slight interest due to the conditions of the NDA's surrounding the visit...and lastly... there's already some kind of witch hunt going on over at D-D...

It's still an interesting discussion :p

Have to agree with stasis on this, not that i have a problem with the round table streams tuned in on one or two, Frontier are in a habit of hyping secret exciting stuff which usually ends up blowing up in their face because the hype generated by weeks or months of avoidable speculation build expectations up. All they've done here is let other people build the hype about super secret exciting stuff they can't talk about, the annoying thing is I can't think of any reveal that FD has done that this level of secrecy has actually improved.

TL;DR Same excrement different shovel

But...But... the stream is only marginally and temporarily marred by the almost non discussion on future content

I could be all apologetic for reposting it...but I have no opinion on the Q4 update and recent visit to FDev by certain parties. If the Q4 update is good when it appears...I'll play it.

I've nothing more invested in it than that...haven't played E-D except for an odd hour here and there for months ;)

I did read a brief summary of the visit in DD since writing my first post, the most encouraging thing i saw was that FD was taking notes and not dodging questions, why they can't share that transparency with all of us I still don't know. They did say that the presentation was over 6 hours so 3.3 sounds quite sizeable, just hope we get the relevant patch notes, sick of getting incomplete patch notes that compete with the cooking instructions on a pack of super noodles for brevity.

A link to a more detailed overview of the visit by someone in attendance...kinda sums it up in context without the witch hunting stuff for me.

Thanks for the vid, Mole.
But I think Stasiswolf has got to the heart of the matter quite nicely.

Why do I care that the few are selected for information and not myself or others?
My money not good enough obviously. At least that's how it seems to me :)

One thing is not clear to me.

I remember that Obsidian's video last year about his tour at Frontier EQ....

but ... was ObsidianAnt invited this time too ? Or in the recent video he was only hosting the people who went to Frontier offices and saw the preview of Q4 ?

So can someone who has watched this confirm or deny that the bugs issue was discussed?

Well no...cos all those who were invited were pc players...which means they may not even be aware of those issues, and even if they are, well FD paid fer those plane tickets so they most likely paid to not have certain questions asked.

Whatever the truth may or may not be, until the bugs issue is dealt with, there really aint much point in so much as thinking about the actual content. Until one can actually play the game, any discussion on content is moot and utterly pointless.

No doubt the pc players will be happy though...I see they were very well represented and looked after. Meanwhile on the console side of things...some things never change.

Btw...the last time FD pulled a stunt like this, I remember how excited those invited were. That was the so called thargoid ¨invasion¨ and look how that turned out.

Food fer thought on this fine saturday evening ^

Thank you, Commander Mole, for posting the video. Regardless of how people may feel about the streamers or how they may feel about the exclusivity of Thursday's presentation, at least we have another source of information.

No bugs were discussed as far as I remember in the Round Table discussion. The presentation at Frontier Thursday for the chosen few was only related to Q4 stuff I believe. I asked Alex Turner, who was at that event, whether Gnosisgate was discussed in Cambridge. It was not. I do believe that many bugs will be addressed also in the Q4 update but I do not know which ones. You might ask Alec or Sir TJ.

The Round Table streams rarely refer to console issues. However, I do believe Ant has video tutorials specifically geared to the PS4.

I do understand that console users are often pretty screwed when it comes to ED. Well, as a PC user only, I will probably never get to play any of the Uncharted games, Horizon Dawn Zero, the Last of Us, etc. So maybe it evens out in the end?

Nevertheless, despite my not being affected at all by this, I really do hope that they fix the SRV multiplayer bug on consoles. Or at the very least explain and actually communicate why fixing it isn't feasible. Silence can often be interpreted as cowardly or disrespectful.

Ugh, I couldn't agree with you any more then I do.

I wish I could rep you more than once.

What source of information might that be?
The invitees are bound by a NDA and can share nothing of what they saw or heard.
The only thing they can share is their excitement, well we all know what happened to the excitement shown the last time some guys were invited.

Ye could have stopped after the first line which explained that bug fixes were not discussed...the rest is just subjective filler which means literally nothing to me. No bug fixes, no game...doesnt really get any more complicated than that. Not in my mind anyway...but as ye made the effort, Ill make an effort and reply to the rest of it too...I doubt yer gonna like what I say however.

The entire beyond series was supposed to be about quality of life fixes...that was what was suggested last October by FD themselves. So if no bugs are being addressed then they lied as far as Im concerned...and if they lied about one thing, then what else did they lie about? Lies are rarely a singular event after all...they get away with it once and they will do it again.

Ant and his ps4 tutorials...means what to an xbone player?

Its all cool though cos pc players cant play any console games that have absolutely frak all to do with this game or this topic...ye have any idea how ridiculous that comes across as? Thats not an argument, certainly not one that pertains to this topic in any shape or form.

Also, there is no new source of information...unless someone wants to explain what this new information is which would then break the gagging order placed on them, then this was nothing more than a PR exercise. Buy off the streamers and youtubers and let them spread the word that they are excited and everyone else should be excited...but they cant say why...ergo where exactly is this new information?

Ask Alex or TJ? Hahahaha...no. I wont explain why cos its not wise to say things about mods here and Ive had bans in the past fer doing so...nice try kiddo but not today, once bitten twice shy and all that. I know exactly what they are and who they represent...thats enough fer me.

TLDR...no bug fixes, no game...it really is that simple fer me ^

You know that I agree with you whoheartedly, but I've never seen a developer advertise bug fixes as a "feature" of a major new update. Sometimes they don't even list specific bug fixes in the patch notes. And worse, I've seen bugs listed as fixed in those notes when they clearly were not.

I'm more optimistic about this update than others, because it will have required some reworking of core code, so if bugs are going to be fixed, that's the most convenient time from the developer's point-of-view to do it. Fingers crossed!

They have been asked directly whether yay or nay...and still refuse to give any answer. It reminds me of politicians from here who are famous fer not giving straight answers...thats why I no longer vote on any issue. That says all it needs to say Im afraid...but I still hope Im wrong, I just dont think I am. Regardless...until Q4 is a reality then nobody knows and this is all just guesswork thanks to their non answers. And until answers exist...well ye know how it goes.

Im just waiting fer those answers but fear not Duck...if its nay then there wont be any salt from me...cos I wont be here at all to deliver it. In my mind, it really is that simple...not sure why this is difficult to understand ^

And if they showed it to everyone, people would beach about the updates. Just shut up, be patient, and accept the way thing are.
