Credit card denied? Solutions.

Did you get "Action Needed! Your credit card payment to Elite: Dangerous by Frontier Developments was declined."? Is your card valid, enough funds?

I have seen a few people have issues with the transaction being denied, same happened to me despite previous transactions going through without a hitch and with plenty of funds being available.

The solution is simple, on the back of most cards you should see a customer service number, call that to speak with customer service, in my case it was as I suspected, they had frozen the card and stopped the transaction. After verification the card was unfrozen and I was able to process the payment successfully.

I have seen a few people post the same thing, and I hope this helps others :).

Just to build on what was already said. People will have to be on the look out. Especially people not living in England. Most CC companies will block an "out of the ordinary" large transaction with a company outside the country. So if you paid with a card you should double check that the transaction wasn't blocked. Even if it was a Debit card, they will also do the same thing as CC companies.

I just got this fixed too (beginning by searching for "blocked" on the banks website)

The process took 5-10 minutes.

In the end I didn't need to use a different card, once the block was lifted the same card could be used successfully on Kickstarter to retry the payment.

yep same for me too - quick call to the bank sorted it. I'd rather they block "odd activity" on my card and then go through the hassle of unlocking transactions than run the risk of someone stealing my identity etc ..

Well i contacted my bank and the problem is that my card is for euro transactions only, i did add the needed amount of pounds on it but it can only sit there.
So if i want to make a transaction in pounds - i have to make another credit card.

So, after a call to my bank it seems that i cant make any payment with my Visa in pounds, only in euros, altho there are pounds on it i deposited for the payment.
So i have to make another credit card, based on pounds, if i want to make this pledge.

Thanks for reminding me about looking at the back of the card. Saved me going into town to sort it out. All cleared now.

I suggest letting Frontier know and if possible arranging with them to do the transfer via PayPal.

Very nice easy info, i suspect there will be quite a few of these so having this info around will help a bunch of people freaking out (and maybe let FD know to expect it!).

All went from ok for me and now im buzzing, DDF here i come ....

I got an email last night saying:

" Your pledge was processed successfully! "

So no problem here :)

I just had mine denied.

The bank auto called me and after confirming the amount was genuine I just followed the link, in the email Kickstater sent, and tried again. It went through ok the second time.

I just hope no one uses this as a method to pull their pledge.

I had a similar story. No auto-call from the bank, but I just clicked the green pledge button without changing any details and it appears to have worked. Transactions are not showing yet when I check my bank account online, but I did get the "Your payment to Elite: Dangerous has succeeded" e-mail. Something fishy going on somewhere, but with so many moving parts its tricky to say.

funds not yet taken?

Hi Guys

I have an email saying the following, but no funds taken from my actual account yet (looking at hsbc online banking, though i guess there could be a reporting delay...), any one else in the same boat?

Cheers

Pete

Hi Pete, I don't know about HSBC but with Lloyds it always takes a couple of days for debit card transactions to show up. Though the official balance is unchanged you can see the 'available to spend' amount reduced.

Normally I would only get a denied or a call from the bank if the amount was over a certain value or if there had been multiple amounts, to the same location, taken in a short time.

In this case I had both. One high value and also several book pledges going out all within the same day.

I guess it flagged something at the bank.

I was worried that my transfer would be declined, since I'm living in the US, and suddenly a big lump of cash went overseas! It went through just fine though; I think it helped that I had already pledged to some of the books, and that they had already gone through :)
