crew member should be immortal

Please dear FD,

make our crew mates immortal.

I have built up my crew member from novice to elite.
But I never fly with him because I don't want to loose him, so I use him only for safe missions.

And I would expect that 90% of all players do it the same.

Using crew members should make fun.
Currently it does not.

Please change it, make them immortal. Thx! :)

I lost my long standing crew member the other day, she's been with me for several months.

Thing is, I can't say I really noticed until I went to launch my SLF, other than that, she is not really there. The crew mechanic in ED is very poorly done in my opinion, where are they supposed to be, hiding in the back somewhere?

Give us NPC's that at least sit in the empty seats, and better yet, make crew a requirement for the larger ships. Then I will start to care for them and be concerned when they're gone, until then, the crew mechanic is just so... pointless.

I don't really want to see it remove any and all consequences.

Maybe they could do like in the Mechcommander games — NPCs who got blown up in combat will be injured for a random amount of time, and cannot go on flights until they recover.
Would also give a reason to hire more than one.

Pedro flies when he's ordered to fly. That's why he gets paid millions.

If he winds up pushing daisies there are 5 other pilots at every spaceport who are looking to take his place, just like there was for his predecessor.

good idea..

This is the Nth thread on this topic and I will give it a +1000 for the Nth time.

Give us some kinda game mechanic like a Rescue Mission, NPC XP loss, whatever and stop killing them. Current mechanics encourages either gamey play or flying Not-Too-Dangerously.

But there can be only one!

If they made crew-members immortal, how terrible would that be? Floating alone in space wherever your ship got blown up, too small for you to find and pick up again...?

I like this idea!

Also, I’d like to not pay my crew member percentages of my earnings when he’s on leave relaxing at a plush station (not active) while I’m out flying a small ship without him.

Although I'd hate to lose my crew I still fly with and launch her into battle. If she joins the pink mist club, I'll get another.

Otherwise, why bother having a crew.

Perhaps we should be able to install escape pods for your crew maybe even have crew which require you to have escape pods for them or you can't hire them.

I think reputation should be a major factor on who you can hire for instance if you have a low rep and are known to have lost a lot of ships you won't or will have a lot of trouble hiring crew.

Or if you lose a ship and your crew escape but back at a station they tell you to get good and quit.

So escape pods for crew.

Frontier has zero care for what we think on this matter, they have never responded to any of these threads, ive started a few of them myself. they must read them, because you see some of them post in other topics.

Loved MC and agree that crew downtime due to injury is a much better mechanic than what it currently is.

Perhaps instead of downtime for injury the downtime could be until they are rescued by you or by the authorities?

Maybe even a side mission where they have been taken hostage and you must either pay or retrieve them by force.

I'm with the OP on this.

There should be some sort of penalty for blatant recklessness but having a crew member that is best for the job not do it because it's then that the crew member is most likely to be forever lost is poor design.

As a random occurrence this scenario would be great and interesting. Not all the time though, with the looming and more prevalent Thargoid incursions having to accomplish rescue missions frequently would be very wearing
