Crew Members experience?!

Could someone please tell me, if it is enough to have them on board when fighting, or do they actually have to kill ships?

It seems that they have to be flying either the mothership or a fighter (and you or they have to get enough damage on the target to get a bounty reward)

Hey Dread! nice to hear from you again. I've tried it out. It seems they need to "fly" the fighter, which they control from inside your ship. When the fighter gets destroyed, you get another one for free as I gather, after 1-2 minutes. If your main ship gets blown up, they die. I did not get to try the situation, when you drive on a planet and they assist you in the fighter, while your main ship is safe in orbit. I don't know if it works, would be cool though.

PS don't open up the Power Play map with Yuri, because you'll exit the game. (haha - Power Play love)
