I just bought my first-ever Anaconda yesterday. I love it!! Being ex-Navy, this ship "brings back memories" so to speak. However, my bridge is mighty empty and lonely...
Many of us have been asking for NPC crewmates to sit in these empty chairs, but even if Frontier agrees, that's a long wait for a train don't come. The only way to put people in these chairs is multicrew, but I doubt anyone is going to want to actively multicrew with me, as they would be bored out of their mind as I'm running cargo missions for hours at a time.
However....
What about passive multicrew? Let's say it is time to mow the lawn, walk the dog, whatever. You could join someone else's ship and be a volunteer "NPC crewmate", basically a decoration for that player's bridge. Your CMDR wouldn't "do" anything, because you're away from the computer / console doing something else. Your CMDR is earning credits and rank (IIRC), and the other player has people on his bridge to look at and an extra pip to use. It's the ED version of SETI@home, where you're loaning out CPU cycles to help another CMDR (and yourself) while away from your computer!
The trick is organizing all of this, so that's why I named the thread "Crewmate Rats", because there would need to be a way of CMDRs looking for people to fill the empty seats to find other CMDRs looking to be a passive, "decorative" crewmate.
This idea came to mind because I have two CMDR accounts, and I may end up with two consoles (I'm a PS4 gamer), so I've entertained the idea of having my two CMDRs flying together in multicrew ships, though obviously one would be passive. I've yet to fork over $$ to upgrade my Slim to a Pro, and most people only have one gaming machine, and that's why I thought perhaps this same idea could apply to the community at large.
Thoughts?
ps - I'm not volunteering to lead the "Crewmate Rats" (whoever does, please pick a better name), as I don't have time for that, but I would make one of my CMDRs available for other PS4 players during certain days of the week. Duck or Jenny - you pick
