Crime&Punishment disappointment

Crime&Punishment will bring nothing new about combat logging and exploits punishment?

I think it should be top priority in that update and no information about it? Its not strange?
When they not add this in top priority change when they fix it? Never?

I think its appropriate time to fix it in suitable title "Crime&Punishment".

Here we go again. You might have thought with some nice new stuff on the immediate Horizon, people might have better things to do than complain about other peoples play style.

Combat logging is being addressed by Karma system. This concentrates on overall Crime and Punishment. Karma system will build upon new system.

Why Karma will work will most likely remain a secret. They are working on it. That should be enough for you.

Perhaps because Crime&Punishment was meant to address the issue of crime (or more precisely the complete lack of in-game logical consequences to crime), not logging or exploits?

Game crime has absolutely nothing to do with combat logging or exploits.

You are sure?

combat logging and other exploits are Crimes against other players and game rules and should be Punished.

Its perfect suitable title for that.

I believe combat logging is important issue and FD thinks the same. Fact they don't talk about it doesn't matter they don't work on it. In the past their attempts to address has been hit and miss and I hope Karma provides more reliable ways to detect and mitigate this issue.

I am mostly interested about what kind of in-game punishment Karma could bring. Increased notoriety for example (without bounties).

I think you're mistaking gameplay related crime (crime commited within the context of the imaginary law system in the 3304 against an imaginary jurisdiction) and exploits, which have nothing to do with actual gameplay.

But I think you are making that mistake on purpose and you know perfectly well what's what.

Also, why not wait to see how it's actually going to work, rather than making an opinion based on theory rather than practise?

I think we could use this thread to discuss potential punishment for combat logging instead.

So I will go first:

a) similar approach to notoriety, gradual loss of rep as you do it more, pushing out to Anarchies
b) shadow banning (but I am really not fan of this idea)
c) detect cases where combat logging happens close to dying, and assume that you died anyway (might be corner cases, but this feels safe bet)

As far a CLogging is concerned, only a trend based system like a karma system can be used to curb it. Other systems are likely to produce way to much false positive and
a massive backlash. All things that have been said by FD on streams.

So, the best is being patient, an once the karma system is out, it'll be time to see if it works. Till then, I feel some are beating a dead horse to get attention.

My bet : once CLogging will be dealt with, people will just learn to highwake. Which is kind of the same thing ;)
And then people will complain about highwaking and the need to "fix" it.

Commanders retreating isn't really a problem - NPCs does it all the time when I introduce them to my pair of rail guns (cook my Cobra, but well I can at least try to take down Anaconda with help from syssec). It is legit strategy and yesterday I used like four times because some bandits decided I have been way too bad boy with working against pirate faction.

I think both parts of equalization are interesting - detecting trends is just holy grail of IT and handing out punishment for these people is equally challenging too. I hope FD will say something on Karma relatively soon, as much they can expose it.
