Crime system broken?

Today I shot an NPC eagle. To be fair, he started it by noticing that I’d picked up a 400 CR bounty when a police ship floated between me and a criminal.

In a fit of temper I fired back — and blew the eagle out of the stars. Blowing up someone for a 400 CR fine really is too aggressive for words! Still I shouldn’t have done it.

Unfortunately I was trying to complete a mission in a system crawling with police, so there was no choice but to retreat and try to pay off my bounty. Of course, I now had a notoriety point, so I thought I’d wait it out.

So I did. 2 hours. Then 4 hours. Then 6.

I thought perhaps it was a problem with being docked, so I’ve moved my cobra outside the station and powered down all modules. Perhaps that will let the point go down.

I gues I’ll never complete the mission, and what could have been hours of gameplay is now hours of doing something else while I wait for a hidden timer to reset.

I’m not giving up on the game, but I feel like the game has locked me out.

For shooting an NPC eagle that was shooting at me because I damaged the shield of a police ship.

It’s not much fun.

They should keep all the new c&p penalties and consequences the same....for crimes against players. For npcs' they should lower the penalties for murder up to certain point. Accidents happen, and when they do happen now its a huge PITA to correct.

Or play around it. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong - but you can still hand in missions when you have a bounty and anonymous access at a Station.

Pop a heatsink and you can still land at a Station if your Wanted. You flying a Cobra, the ship that completed the Kessel run in 12 parsecs.
