Critics about ED development

They clearly stated that numerous times: Things. Will. Be. Added. Postlaunch.

Are you whiny ***** illiterate? I'm so sick of all this crying when you knew exactly what you paid for. Yes, the game is a little short of features atm. Do i bohoo in front of the screen like a 12yr old? No. Will the game only get better? You bet.

Fret not. There's another space trading/combat game, and it is layered, complex, has tons of features and a vibrant online community. It's called Eve Online. Best thing is, it's only €10,--.
Per month. :p

You can not compare EVE monthly subscription model to E : D.

In Eve there are a lot of possibilities to get passive income, which can be used to buy gametime, so you are basicly playing for free if you are good at it / have a lot of friends who own space.

Not sure what 'that's business...' is referring to in context of your quote of my comment?
.
You did actually write 50, I direct quoted you and in fact your comment still reads 50.
.

Nö Kramster i did hidden the point betwen the 5 and 0 extra. I mean realy 5.0 gigabyte, mate!

no plz dont say that plz...

more finished than AAA game seriously? i can agree a litlle on the polished one but the finished plz no...

didnt know that cod and other AAA game release without multiplayer or solo campagne (and without all the weapons too)...

the game is far from finished for now, AAA game are finished when release, nothing like elite on that aspect. but yeah since many game are on a yearly release many more release buggy/without optimisation but still complete...

at least elite has the optimisation done correctly, but it's still incomplete and buggy.

to op :
just wait like many other that elite gain some month and new feature and it will maybe be enjoyable for you :)

The game that was released on 16 December had all the features, that were announced (minus the offline mode), nobody said it will have a campaign, nobody said, it will have extensive multiplayer. And I played it daily since the last Gamma, in the final version, I encountered nearly no bugs. Assassin's Creed Unity, Halo MCC or Drive Club were buggy, ED isn't buggy.

And external views are missing too! I mean these are standart. And the freelook mode in a cockpit.

I have freelook in my cockpit for ages now in ED and I don't miss an external view, it would ruin the balance in dogfights, if players could choose an external view.

At first and please do not missunderstood me: I dont want make ED bad, the grafikengine is fantastic, the sound and the atmosphere are fantastic and the animations are fantistic too.
But: ED has no docking station on a planet and landing on a planet are no possible? Thats standard for ELITE!! Why you groupies dont understand it? 20 years ago, ELITE2 has it on a
600 kilobyte disk and ED with 60 gigabyte has it not? Elite 2 has 100% freedom and ED only 50%! And David Braben want to in future with a DLC to pay for? Thats cheek! And the translation
for german mode are not complete! 50% german and 50% english?? Please make the work complete if you want 50.-! I have no problem but not so! And: What about the external view??
As DLC to pay for soon? Or cockpit view??? Thats not okey!

MY version of ED is not 60 GB, and planetary landings were never announced to be in the release version and they are not standard for Elite, as ithey weren't in the original Elite, but only in Elite II and III. Besides, just because Elite II fit on a 720 KB floppy disc it doesn't mean the features can be made on the current engine in no time. The planetary landings planned for ED (as we can see from the concept sketches), are very ambitious, when it comes to the graphical detail and programming something like this takes time.
FD released this game after roughly 24+ months of development and it works as announced. Planet landings are simply not done and I don't expect the dev team, who delivered a working product after 2+ years of development to work for free forever on expansions of the game.

Yeah, let's have them rush out planetary landings with the same level of graphical fidelity and gameplay as the old FFE just to satisfy these complaints. Then we can watch the same dingbats whine about how poor the graphics are, how little there is to do, how sparse the environments are, and basically how badly implemented it all is.

People's demands are a lot higher today. In order to do them justice, the devs will have to basically pull unlimited numbers of unique and interesting procedural rabbits out of a limited number of procedural hats. I don't think they have a hope in hell of satisfying the insane level of expectation, personally, because they have to work within the rules of what's actually possible, unlike their customers, who can entertain fanciful notions unencumbered by any clue about the difficulties of implementation. It will be interesting to see what FD can conjure up though.

I think the worst thing about this game is the sheer number of "concerned backers" making dumb demands. What we've got thus far is pretty amazing, to be frank.

Anyone claiming to expect a game like the one we can look forward to, with a scale nobody has ever attempted before, a level of fidelity comparable to modern AAA titles, the equivalent of hundreds of games worth of variety crammed in, should be the same price as a typical Ubisoft game is being naive at best, and a troll at worst.

I agree, just implementing planetary landings for the sake of it doesn't make much sense, when it doesn't add anything to the game, the same goes for station walks. X-Rebirth is the living proof for this, every time, the game forces me to walk on its ugly stations, I wish, I could do everything from a nice station service menu, it's simply no fun to walk on stations in X-Rebirth.
