Horizons Cross Platform Migrations

Hi guys & Frontier

I had a conversation recently with an xbox user who has been playing the game a lot longer then me who had read an article talking about a third party server being setup where commander data would be saved to. The general idea was that it didn't matter what platform you played on once you logged on your data would be downloaded from there rather then a frontier or microsoft server. Essentially the 1's & 0's that make your commander up would be saved elsewhere. I cant find mention of this anywhere but it seemed like a logical idea. Anyone else seen or heard this?

Surely the data that makes me me are just figures in a database, name, credit balance, ships, locations etc etc, i am probably over simplifying the situation but i work in an environment where our DBA team and software dev teams are dealing with some very fast moving complicated data that ultimately resides on an SQL DB.

Ive no plans to change from PC but i have had several conversations now with xbox commanders who have been playing the game so long that to restart on a PC would be too much to bare but they would like to migrate and I'm sure that there are probably some out there that would like to move in the other direction.

Even if the above idea is not viable why isn't there a paid migration service available , people i have spoken with would happily pay a fee to have there commander data move/re-created on the opposing platform, they'd have to re-buy the game and any paint packs for the new platform, frontier would make money which would (hopefully) go back into the game and Microsoft wouldn't lose out as those xbox players have already spent their money or vice-versa.

It seems like common sense to me..... why isn't it?.... what am i missing?

thoughts?

Cheers

It doesn't make sense to me, either. I get that each game has different requirements, but creating and linking a new account shouldn't be hard? Just credit it with your total asset total and let you re-buy everything in the new platform?

I would have thought this would be easy,

I started a poll months ago (look at my signature). I understand the problems by switching from one platform (pc) to another (xbox), but it could be solved. Support for Xbox Play Anywhere would be great too.

Did anyone at frontier ever voice an opinion or reason for not doing this?

@ Frontier: Any reason for not doing this? I believe a response of "No and these are the reasons why" would be better then no answer at all

The reason is simple: if a player would play the PC beta, his account couldn't be used on Xbox, because on PC could be elements (like weapons) which are not available on Xbox at this point.

So any migrated accounts as off right now go into a different OU and are excluded from being able to download the beta's..... 'Yes you can migrate your account but you have to give up the right to beta testing'

I would love to play this game on PC but the idea of starting a new commander and trying to gain back all my ranks is to much, it would be great to get an official response to know if this is something that could happen.

I started my ED experience on Mac. My Mac died early summer and that is when I decided to get a PC.
I got one, got help from Frontier help support getting new client for my brand new pc, instelled it, started the game, and guess what. Everything was there. I just continued my career. Did not have to start over at all.
Dont think your xbox friend will have to eighter, even if he switches platforms. I might be wrong ofcourse, but if it worked from Mac to pc then why shouldnt it work on other platforms?

so, migration from Xbox to pc?

has there been any development on this?
i would gladly switch to pc if i could at least have my credit balance.
being able to have my career, progress, and ships would be sweet!

if there is a way to do this, i want it!!
i will gladly purchase Elite again! ill do it tonight if i have answer!

in short, if I can, I will!!

point me in the direction of an answer ( hopefully one that is favorable to my desire ).
