Folks, I noticed many of you per patch update have spoken up as to why Xbox player data is getting added into the PC game - therefore, please see this:

All platforms will eventually be cross-platform (so PC players can play with Xbox, Xbox to Sony, Sony to PC, etc). I'm guessing the game publishers have finally pushed the big two (Microsoft/Sony) to better support all players regardless of their game and platform (and it probably reduces their costs). Therefore, it seems the latest 2.0.0.7 update this afternoon is the first step towards merging PC/Xbox/Sony into the same cup of tea, so to speak.

You can google and find other news items regarding this. Cross-platform is coming, so in the future we could expect larger populations in game. All good.

That is some good news to the gaming industry! Lets hope ED gets on the boat soon and we can start hunting those Xbox players on the bounty board :)

Hmm... Written by the same people who claim Elite was the first 3D game...

Currently the various platforms running Elite are all talking to the same database - nothing special in doing that, been happening for quite some time now. As for teh gaming side of things - your going to have to wait to see who out of the top development houses jumps on-board.

Plus as said it's all got to go through XB live at the moment and be UWP compliant which is not good news for the gamer.

In other words... Don't hold your breath waiting.

EDIT: If you break down what is really going on it sound less impressive...

The two new consoles are both custom PC builds...

Is it really news worthy that three PC's can now connect together via a network? I thought we got over that hurdle back in the 70's!
