Cross Post from general Game-play on PP, BGS, Minor Factions and the Galactic Map

I know there were originally more plans for the Galactic map which may still be "on the list".

However, I was looking at pledging in Power Play today after not touching it since the beta.

The result is initially some suggestions for tweaks to the current galactic map views of Power Play, and a request to extend those to Minor Factions (esp. for Player Controlled MF benefit) and also the BGS in general, maybe even adding Community Goals 'bubbles'.

So, the specific suggestion for PP: Allow the Power Play display to highlight only the selected Power's territory. Add graphics to reveal the state of the territories, like fortification, undermining, etc. Add additional color bubbles or lines from controlled systems to systems being actively expanded into and another color for those available to expand into but not being worked. Make it easier for a player to see what others are already doing, graphically by showing the numbers or status already available in detail text views but make it graphical.

Possibly the selected Power in the normal view can have a harder/thicker outside border that draws depending specifically on the view, so the outside edge would change as player rotates the view and different bubbles move to the "outside edge" of visibility.

Specific suggestion for MF: Implement the same graphical bubble views for Minor Factions so there is an "overall status view" a "conflict view" and a detailed view of a single specific minor faction's territory and activities. The areas would be smaller than powers and could also tie into the Powers that the Minor Factions are allied with. This would give much better insight into more of what is going on in the Background Sim and the intersection with Power Play, which FD has stated they want to make a closer link (with Power Play FD is not there but close, I think David Braben recently said). The new Mission giver update should help, but a graphical representation of the underlying numbers is also a big aid.

Ideally this will one day extend into the System View and Orrey View, such that viewing an individual system there are graphical UI filters like bubbles and colors that represent the control of and status of different parts of each system. What areas do the Constitution Party control versus the Gold Gang? Can I see graphically that there is a civil war going on (deep red), or an incursion/war with a faction from another system (bright red), and then also if a Power is trying to expand into the current system.
