Crossing the void

I'm on an exploration mission in my DBE. I'm going to be attempting to cross to the Perseus Arm of the galaxy from the Orion Arm (where Sol and all of inhabited space is located).

Is it possible to cross the void between arms, or do you need to enter one from where it joins with other galactic structures? Basically are there enough stars about 30ly apart from each other in these inter-arm voids?

Cheers,
Jon Jaymes

PS long-term target is Heart and Soul nebulae

Yes, the star density is high enough that even a Viper can get out to the Heart and Soul Nebulae. The only places where jump range becomes an issue is when you're wanting to travel to the galactic outer arms.

I did get to Heart and Soul without a problem but am in my 40LY Anaconda.
If you cross near the "NGC 7822 Nebula" you should be able to get through as long as you are within +/-500 height from centre, I don't see too many extra long jumps but hopefully someone else can confirm... (Ninja'd :))

Assuming you get across check out the "bubble nebula" and "IC 1805 Sector DQ-Y E3", really worth the trip, for the best pics remember to fly away from the star for a while ;)
