General Crossplay, when will it be available as for Fortnite?

I was trying to login to PC Steam game client for the first time (I own Commander Edition on PS4 and for a few days also for PC) using my Frontier account with no success.
Message provided was "Please purchase/redeem Elite Dangerous to continue.", then I created a new game linking Steam account and I finally managed (not so intuitive), but I don't want to create a new profile, but only play ongoing started on PS4 also with my personal PC (PS4 is my sons' so little chance to play), when will this be possible? Grinding is so time consuming (and I have very little) and it can be even frustrating sometimes, so I prefer at this point to wait to play until function is available.
Another general (and massive) request: are you looking also at what Space Citizen is offering (protagonist walks also, not only lead a spacecraft, among issues of any kind due to game complexity and unlucky choices such as recent game engine change...)? System requirements should not change, those of Star CItizen are too demanding.
Thank you, Elite is a wonderful space sim, but it must grow.

The accounts, like instancing, do not transfer across platforms. You might be able to put in a support ticket and maybe they might possibly move your account for you, but you will have to buy the game again for that platform.

It would be nice if you could just log on from any platform the game is available on, but that is not currently the case. Actual cross play would be nice too, but I know that is rather unlikely.

Transfer of a CMDR from one platform to another is only in the form of a sum of credit, i.e. ranks, influence, Engineer unlocks, reputations, etc. do not transfer.

and in addition, one can only transfer from one platform or device to another, ONCE and only ONCE.

With CMDR and Squadron names and Squadron codes being only unique within a platform at the moment, enabling crossplay would mean that those duplicates would need to be dealt with somehow. I'm not sure how would be best.

....yes, but Fortnite Crossplay (as an example I know) allows the same account to play on a single platform at a time, so the problem is only technical, from my point of view, I think a lot of people who love the game would like to choose which platform to use...
In addition put together PC, PS4 and XBOX platforms would hugely broaden galaxy population.

Not really, the chances of bumping into somebody might increase slightly but that's about it. As far as I am concerned for 99.99% of my time I may as well be the only one in the galaxy for all that other CMDR's affect me directly.
