Yeah, it sucks, most of the people that I know that usually play video games do it from consoles, for practicality and price. In fact, I've only made direct contact with other 2 people who play Elite for PC in my whole country. 😔

Yes, they do.

Especially Sony is being A-null about cross play. In a fit of hypocrisy they're acting like they allow it, but both the developers and the other platform's big evil corporations will need to seriously push for it, as well as the player base. Sony isn't just going to spontaneously welcome crossplay with open arms, FD will need to be vocal about it to make it happen.

Microsoft perhaps , sony i doubt very highly they would agree to crossplay. More so with controller types and advantages/disadvantages based on systems etc .. doubt it will ever happen.

The "big evil corporations" can push for it and maybe get it (i.e. Epic and Fornite) but they can do it because they are big and powerful. I think that EA is going to get it for several of their most successful franchises (FIFA) for the next console generation, Activision too (CoD). But those are the biggest publishers in the industry. Small devs and indies would need to organize to get the same level of bargain power but that's a very unlikely possibility, I'm afraid.

We do need it.

I have been playing in open for days on PS4 and saw 1 other commander

In the UK playing both during the day and in the evening..

I suppose I am not near any of the major places but would expect a few more sightings...

sounds about right, the galaxy is huge. So if you are not going to the popular places like the popular engineers locations, CG's, or Founders World, then you are unlikely to encounter other players.... Add to this all the instancing going on, you can pass a system with several players, but they are all doing something like mining, driving around an planet, hunting pirates at a Resource Extraction site etc, etc, all of which are in their own instances.
