Fiction culture(s) in the Elite 'verse

What about the GalCoop? Is that just a thing in Oolite (the freeware version of Elite I)?

For the religious stuff, some of the stuff I've read portrays ´´spacer´´ religion as a pagan-ish semi-belief in patron deities, saints, etc.

Like in old Norse paganism, you do your sacrifices and tell stories of the deeds of your deities, but there's not really any organised religion going on. At least that is how I interpreted it.

In the Empire, might there be some kind of ´´The Emperor is Divine´´ thing going on? Most authoritative states in history have tried to portray the leader as either The one Divine, the one divinest, the one chosen by the divine or at the very least someone approved by the divine.

I think its worth pointing out here that the writers of the official fiction are aware of the community's curiousity in relation to canon.

I would suggest reading the official fiction that is already released. There's a fair amount of information on what happened to Galcop in that, although that isn't the focus of any particular plot.

I'd also point out there is a writer reticence in revealing too much. Firstly, some things may give away plots, secondly Frontier have made it pretty plain what we are permitted to talk about.
