Curiosity killed the Freighter crew.

Just got myself wanted and killed, am a little confused by what happened. Can someone point me to the log files, or maybe explain how I became wanted.

Was en route back to Pleiades Sector PD-S b4-0 [Ieyasu Dock] returning from a few high profit long haul cargo mission back to the bubble, I had 591 tonnes of liquor and 120 tones of CMM composite on board for a fetch mission back at Ieyasu. Business as usual, interdiction's throughout the trip, no issues evading

Whilst en-route to Ieyasu I noticed the Science station Eagle 1, had heard about this Aegis station so dropped in to take a quick look, all ships where friendly, next minute a wanted Courier drops out of warp next to me. I proceed to retract weapons and leave the mass lock area, on my scanner I notice the local authority's are engaging the Courier, I decide to turn around and tag the wanted ship with some seekers, the seekers hit and the ship explodes, now I become wanted :-/

Next thing I know 8+ security ship are engaging me, thrusters go offline and I lose the ship and cargo, fortunately no mission haulage cargo. Am now at a detention facility.


Reports crimes was ON

Target was confirmed Wanted.

I had no illegal cargo on the ship.

Have tagged wanted ships plenty of times to claim a kill in the past.

You mean you scanned him, right? If so then AOE is to blame. Security got a stray shrapnel bounced off of their shields which = assault. Also - wanted status. Wanted in where? I've seen people getting crime hits for attacking wanted ship because npc wanted was in other jurisdiction. And despite being wanted, they were clear in the place player's been with said npc. Speaking more clearly, hunting in the woods and attacking "wanted" target made you make an assault since target was clean in the woods while wanted on the field.

I feel your pain. I recently lost a fully loaded trade cutter (Palladium) after ramming an invisible NPC in a station. Of course the logs showed the crime of me ramming it but unfortunately the game didn't bother displaying the actual NPC so I could avoid it.

Had there been any lag/instancing issues with your game?

Needless to say FDev weren't interested.

I included the part from SC dropout at the science facilty, I scanned a T7, took a screenshot, then the courier pirate dropped out next to me 'Linara Holden' legal status is LegalStatus":"Wanted", "Bounty" 39400cr, I get a reward for assisting in the kill, then I get a reckless weapons discharge fine for 400cr and they all engage me ( I was using guided weapons that hit and killed the target)

This must be a bug right? CMDRS lives matter

Possibly. Certainly worth dropping a line to support to query. Did all the seekers hit the target? How close were the security ships (were they in ramming mode :) )?

And I must disagree that it was wreckless. There was your wreck, for a start. :D

I was around 5km out, all seekers hit, the cops where in close prox to the target, I can say in 2+ years of using missiles I have never seen a ship get taken down by splash damage.

It was only a 400Cr bounty that you picked up, so that doesn't mean that a lot of damage was caused (just enough to trigger the bounty). I'm not stating that this is the answer, just that it is a possible answer given the logs. Another answer is that it's a bug.

Is 400cr bounty enough to cause authority ships to attack?

Reckless discharge? Did you, by any means, shoot (or hit) inside the station's no fire zone? AFAIK you usually drop out pretty close to these stations, and I do not know whether they have a "no fire" zone, but that could explain this part.

However, that fine(!)
a) shouldn't get you wanted and
b) happened after you were noticed of being wanted now
and c) there were full four seconds between you shooting that NPC and the police going after you

But immediately after that fine for reckless discharge, you get a bounty for assault:

These installations don't have NFZ's. I most definitely did not fire at any authority ships, I only had seeker missiles installed, no turrets, I was trying to get out of mass lock.

Hopefully this is just one of those bizzare one off incidents. Luckily I had finished all my cargo runs, total bill for this bit of tourism cost me around 6 million credits.

If there aren't any other wanted ships in the area, certainly. That's usually how I get chased out of a haz res. :) Any bounty is enough to trigger them.

If there are other ships in the area, then it is usually only the ship that you fired upon that starts attacking you. The other ships join in as they notice your wanted tag, and so long as they aren't involved in other fights.
 
Sounds like something that happend to me, was fighting a Conda that came after me from a mission with some help of security ships. At some point all the cops turned red, I'm pretty sure one of the seekers I send after the conda hit a cop somewhere (there where quite a lot buzzing around the Conda). But didn't lose the T9 as I was jumping out there real quick when it all did go red.

at least I believe it was a case of friendly fire, can't be 100% sure.
