Curiosity killed the Freighter crew.

Post it as a bug. I’m sure there are glitches in the new system, and your logs might help FD root them out. With the new harsher penalties, it’s even more important.

What? are they common these invisible NPC's?

The whole event was witnessed by my wingman who came in to the station right behind me. I was about to land on my assigned pad when a whole load of warnings appeared simultaneously and the station vaporised me. Apart from us the station was empty. A fact we’d noted before entering.

The logs showed I’d rammed a npc to death and been issued various warnings prior to my docking being revoked and my eventual destruction.

Some very strange lag effects had been occuring around that time and directly after the event my wing man managed to hyperspace right through the station in totally the wrong direction to his destination!

So anyway - the logs... ppfft.

What happens to live seeker missiles if the target dies? Do they keep flying? Do they stop in space? Will they explode if a ship runs into them?

If they lose lock they continue on their last trajectory, when they run out fuel they will self destruct. Pretty sure they would detonate if a ship ran into them, have never seen it happen.

I launched 3 missiles, they all hit the target, it was already severely damaged by the authority ships. I got the kill shot, but the target was wanted, and I never fired a single shot afterwards. Seems strange to be killed for a reckless fire incident against a cop.

going immediately from "recklessWeaponsDischarge" to "assault", I have to assume that one of the sec ships was right next to the target when the seekers hit, so the splash damage immediately crossed both thresholds.

I'd say you have to chalk that up to really bad luck/timing. :(
You probably couldn't do that again if you were trying.

No, that's not bad luck. That's a crappy system that can't tell the difference between normal combat and intentional assault.

The threshold for Assault needs to be much, MUCH higher.

The threshold is quite high - several stray shots from a lazer will normally not trigger it. But some ammunitions (such as explosive ones) can go straight through that threshold. There is nothing wrong with this, you have the option to use less powerful weapons.

We still haven't established that is what happened here, it just seems to be likely.

Incorrect. A single stray shot can do it. Note that this is in a Ship Launched Fighter.

Also, the "Use less powerful weapons" is hilariously short sighted. You need those large weapons to succeed in Combat Zones. Also, larger and better weapons is one of the major progression components of the game.

Yes, a single stray shot can do it. My C4 beam laser can breach the threshold with one shot. So I use that one with care. I don't stop using it (though if I was incapable of controlling my trigger finger, I would do).

Your video doesn't do anything to change my opinion. :) The thresholds are fine. This doesn't necessarily mean that bugs can't influence it - this has certainly happened before.
