Curious Gal Net wording: Extra Terrestrial

ET...what does that even mean in the context of a pan galactic society?

Thargoids, the only non-human sentients I know of in game, yet, are probably terrestrial on whatever rock they come from. Isn't everyone not planet side an ET?

Language is a curious thing. Words are created during a time when the word makes sense but continues to persist through history, even after the original reason for the word being created no longer exists. The only example I can think of now is a phrase

"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth"

Extra Terrestrial could be a similar term in the future. Doesn't make literal sense but still used to describe alien.

Even the word alien fits that criteria, especially in SF. If I play a Starbound human character, with the Earth destroyed technically I'm the "alien invader" everywhere I go.
