Curious: how many of you backers are still actively playing?

Not sure if I qualify but I made Elite on an Amstrad CPC464/6128 and Deadly (Frontier Elite II) on an Atari ST, Been playing ED since the 02-Feb pretty much everyday and will continue till I curl my toes up or the game folds which ever comes first:):):).

beta backer. i still play as routine. log in, pew pew in CZ or res for some credits, basically until whatever album i'm listening to is over. once a week i earn 100 merits for ALD to keep my bounty pay outs up. i honesty haven't had fun playing in months. it's just something to do while i listen to music, for now.

PB,upgraded to Alpha. Played pretty much for a year and have stopped. Don't whether I'll be back yet. Hopefully I'm just in need of a break from the game. But, considering how long some games last that hasn't been too bad

Kickstarter and started with PB. I had 2-3 months break and started again when 1.3 was released.

I play mostly open but I'm lonewolf so not really excited about latest updates and "Soon" future plans from Lavecon, "More support for player groups 'Soon'." I understand that they can't release awesome updates for Solo only but lonewolfs (and their play styles) at open needs some love too. Upgraded mission system is what I'm waiting for, and ofcourse moar ships (small ones too), pit walking, planet landing, etc etc... ;)

I've playd my own ironman mode, cleared save 3 or 4 times and after first death I also stopped grinding. It was my best decision to keep my game interesting. I have now decent Cobra and about 20 mil and with little bit smuggling, missioning and bounty hunting it's enough for me.

Right on, commanders. Try to find your own way to enjoy game. It's pretty good and getting better... Soon(TM). ; )

Premium Beta Backer here. Looks like a combination of my getting burned out during the beta process, lack of some features/feel to the game, plus some mental health issues have all lead to my hardly playing since release.

In gamma and just into release I worked some on Federation rank, then gave up when it kept on nuking my rep with them. Since Xmas eve 2014 I've done pretty much nothing but short bursts of exploration, plus a little PP dabbling to have hard figures for how the carry/decay works.

I'd say "well, those who aren't playing any more are less likely to respond to this forum thread", but obviously I'm still here that much.

Im blazing my own trail since Elite on C64 , Elite 2 and Elite First Encounters on Commodore Amiga AGA..Still playing daily, currently making my way back to the bubble from my Sagit A visit :)

Full disclosure: I joined at the start of PB, have been playing pretty intensely since then, with a 2 month break in the middle. I also played Elite on C64 many moons ago. Love ED, and play it weekly. But, as I see mostly new posters on the forum, I don't have a much of a sense as to how many backers are still actively playing. I'm hoping "a lot". Please report for duty if you're a backer, and still playing.... just to satisfy my curiosity and as a sign of ongoing support and enthusiasm for the game.

Thanks in advance!

PB still playing warts and all.

No. There is an obsession with graphics and appearance, clearly coming from DB who never wanted a game. And a complete lack of gameplay. I would rather push needles through my eyeballs than go through another broken mission.

It has not lived up to expectations. But I continue to watch with interest.

Wow, thread necro from 2015... but this thread is probably more relevant now that it was a couple of years ago.

Beta backer here. I took a couple of major breaks, but the game has kept me coming back. It's definitely in my top 10 most played games of all time list (and I started gaming in the late 70s).

Elite Dangerous has been getting better and better with each update, and I believe that I will still be playing it for many years to come.

I see I posted early in that necro of a thread. Might just as well update: not playing anymore since 2.00 - 2.1 transition. I realised the game was too much of a time sink for me, and incoming features were not going to help for that matter. I could not afford that, so I stopped. A shame, since I love it despite its flaws. 2.3 looks fun, so I might spend some time ingame again, but definitely not to the extent of 2.00 and before that.

For what it's worth, I burnt out after a month + of exploration ending in a crash on a foggy, gravity heavy planet. I know, all my fault and all, but when I got back at the starting base, with no scan data and a rebuy screen, I saw clearly how uselessly extreme, how awkwardly designed some core aspects of the game were, and decided my life time was way too precious to be wasted like that. Didn't come to the forums to complain, obviously, but at this point I was done. Still feel very much that way. I've been lurking on the forums to see if anything was worth coming back ever since.

Again, I love the game, it's easily the closest thing there is from flying a spaceship the grand way. But it's clear that the design is made to appeal hardcore gamers who aren't shy about their playtime.
