The current mission system is a mess, especially with all the missions that are just not doable.
Not too long ago I took a mission to kill targets in a warzone, in conjunction with a sobek boys community goal. I go to the system, but darn, no warzones so mission is not doable. Great, have to cancel it and take a hit to my standing.
I know this is a known issue but can't they fix it already? It has been a known issue for a pretty long time.
Just now I take a mission to transport some stuff, minor money really now that I am sitting in a python. But, alas, the target station can't dock a python. And even if I was willing to procure a ship that can dock there, there would be no way to transfer the mission cargo. Is it really that hard to code for stuff like this? They really should not give out impossible missions like that.
And now that I have abandoned the mission I'm stuck with the "stolen" cargo in my hold. I'd love to hand it back, say sorry, maybe even pay a fine. But no, I can't. I will have to take off, will most likely get scanned and fined heavily, just to dump that somewhere out in the black.
Elite: Dangerous is a great game, but stuff like this, so long after release, gives me the buggers. Maybe I should take a break and come back when powerplay is ready. But I'm just not sure that the great new mission system won't just come with new horrible bugs that don't get fixed for like forever.
