Hardware & Technical Currently have AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series

I had upgraded this maybe a year or 2 ago and seemed like a wonderful card. But now as games progress seems like its been kinda lacking in the games I play. ED I have everything turned up and at times I hear the AMD cards fans buzzing loudly I guess trying to over work itself, sometimes frames skip and with the animations of coming out and into hyperdrive/supercruise seems "laggy". also playing watch dogs its really horrible even playing on low, and Have deemed that game UNPLAYABLE. I want to fix it. I have looked at reasonable priced gaming graphics cards and come accross this

EVGA GeForce GTX770 SuperClocked with EVGA ACX Cooler, 2GB GDDR5 256bit, DL DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI, DP, SLI Ready

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CZIQXBA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3PIA6OFG0PAEP&coliid=IN0PQ0JVMSVB0

its way better than the one I hve and will allow me to play all of my games that I have apparently.

Just thought to see if my ED community had any suggestions. Please nothing negative, I just want to see if there are more info about cards or recommendations out there. ESP from the moderators. Thanks guys

GTX 770 would be good - you need more memory for sure. If you're willing to pay a bit more I'd even suggest you go for the 780 or a Titan if you're really feeling spendy. But yeah... I don't see a problem with the 770.

I mean, I have a GTX 680 (well, 2 of them) and even just running one, Elite performs quite well.

Anyway, you can easily compare base stats on NVidia cards on this wikipedia page:

Oh, and moving to Hardware. ;)

What kind of budget?

Even this game in its beta state, runs very well and can only improve, you wouldn't need to spend the earth to get satisfactory improvements

well I probably wont go into the 500+ for a good card lol

319.00 seemed pretty reasonable. I dont smoke or drink or really go out. So I do have money saved for no real reason lol.

According to AMD's specs for your card, you have 1 gig of DDR5 video ram. Not the same thing as your system ram.

That's why I said you needed more ram...video ram in this case. :D Need that to load textures and avoid having to go to the drive and/or system memory to load it, as that will slow you way down. Plus your old card just doesn't have the horsepower that a newer gen card would have.

As for the Beta ED uses no more then 1,8 GB Video Ram.
So for ED (at this point) the 2GB of the 770 should do it.

But what i heard, Watchdogs uses 3GB for Ultra Textures.
This has brought me to buy a AMD Card, since nVidia still goes for 2GB.
(at least in my price range)

I now have the AMD R9 280.
With this one i get up to 120 FPS or something on 1080p High Settings.
But inside Stations at certain conditions it goes down to 50-45 FPS.

I have the 280s older twin brother, the 7970 and it performing very well! 60+fps in stations, 100 - 120fps outside, its a must for me on my 144hz benq,

Yea I will check that out too. I just want to make sure my games are playable. Stupid watch dawgs, I cant even play.

Why not fleabay? I bought a NEW Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X - it has 3GB of ram. I have it overclocked to 1050 MHz and I get good frame rates in ED no chugging with everything on max eye candy at 1080P 60Hz with V Synch on. I hit about 80% GPU load in the asteroid fields and when flying in close to space-station. I should be able to push it to 1150MHz as this quite common. Now the interesting bit I bought my card for about £230 christmas 2012. 2.5 years later you can buy a 7970 GHz edition for half that price. 7970 GHz edition will be a nose faster if it was race horse to a 7950 running at 1150MHz. Also the 7970 GHz has not been overclocked so you could pull a length clear by increasing the clocks...I say fleabay your old card and get buy a 7970 GHz edition...
