Currently mining at 500k/hour, any tips?

Anybody manage to increase cash flow above 500k/hour? I am mining in a metallic planetary ring, using two mining lasers + 4-bin refinery.

I only have 32 cargo slots in my Cobra. Will increasing cargo space give me a better ratio cash:time, or just let me hold more?

At that point say with 64 slots should I keep everything I mine, or only keep gold, palladium and platinum like I have been?:S

edit: if you're wondering how i manage 500k an hour, its a pristine metallic planetary ring (NOT CLUSTER BELTS), two mining lasers, high capacity refinery, and mastery of scooping fragments.

Your earning 500k an hour? lol. I've been playing since BETA and never EVER had past about 300k EVER!

I say you should be the one giving the tips.

I can't scoop fast enough to make more per hour I think. that may be my problem.

I lost about 700k of mining progress today crashing into a roid with no shields. I would add silver to the mix, that way you can upgrade to the 5bin refinery.

500k/hour sound about right, that's what I made in gamma while mining. For the life of me I can't figure out where all that cash went :D

Side note: I saw you in game the other night... Now I know who to pirate lol

I think a nice piece of mine went into me accidentally blowing myself up quite a few times in different scenarios.

Edit: Bring the fire :D

Get a mining friend. One ship is mining, the other one is scooping, switch places from time to time. Also good for getting bounties if you`re attacked. We made way more with my friend.

Not from me. I found a pristine metallic field and was bored within 15 minutes. It may be lucrative but I much prefer the other professions.

I dunno how you're even managing that. I hit up some pristine metallic rings and only occasionally found gold and silver, palladium even more rarely. Not a whisper of platinum. Bah.

my max has been about 650k for an hours mining but that was a fluke tbh, my average is around 400-500k per hour if I put my back into it.

This evening I took a type-6 with 102 capacity, whilst my buddy went from roid to roid with a class 2 laser doing the mining, I followed him with a 5 bin refinery picking platinum/palladium/gold only, we ended up with 60 tons of all 3, about 850ks worth in total, split it 50/50

Either way, there's money to be made if you're in a pristine metallic ring.

I've been in a pristine mining ring for about an hour now (Njikan system). All I've found thus far in hitting half the belt clusters are rocks with about 5-7% silver, with everything else being minerals. What the heck gives???

Not the cluster belts, the actual asteroid ring around Njikan 4 planet. Cluster belts are very bad.

Very true - I believe the types of metals/minerals you get are to some extent determined by what type of star (it would also make sense from a Stellar Forge perspective). I have noticed belts/rings around M class stars tend to produce the lower classes of rocks, where G and F type stars seem to be where it's at for platinum/palladium. My current system is a G type with 2 pristine metal rings, and I regularly get 30-50% platinum/palladium rocks (most recent 2 hr trip gave me 17 tons of plat, 11 tons of palladium, 15 tons of gold, and 11 tons of silver, for a per hr average of about 350k profit after the assorted other minerals that got mined along with the good stuff).

Care to share the system name? :D
