custom building wall rotation issue

Hi

I'm trying custom buildings. I know that holding/tapping z should rotate a piece e.g wall. This works for me on the first wall piece I place but all subsequent pieces are locked and will not rotate with z. AM I missing something?

Thanks

Only thing you are missing is this can't be done, or at least not currently. Once you place the first piece then the rest of the building has to be made on the grid that is created for that first piece. This is a limitation that there are already many threads on. If you want to learn more about the history of this, do some searches and you will find plenty of reading material on this subject.

Yes, but surely you can rotate 90 degrees on the grid. The help menu says Z to rotate 90 degrees but it doesn't. There are loads of YouTube videos showing 90 degree rotation but after I place my first bit on the grid, all others are locked to EXACTLY the same angle. No 90, 180, 270 degree rotation with Z at all.

In my experience it can be a bit sensitive. I've found that if I tap Z the piece will rotate - if I hold the key down too long it won't. It's possibly a leftover from a properly functional rotate while building.

Try this while editing a building: Select a wall piece, press M, then press Z. You have to be moving a piece (pressing M) to be able to rotate (press Z) the piece. Now you can do this with any of the peices that require being place a the building grid.

To rotate the whole building. Click on the building (not in edit mode) and then press M and now z rotates the whole building 90 degrees. If you hold Z and move the mouse, the building rotates at other angles.

Hope this helps.
