Custom CMDR Name

My PSN username isn't something I'd like to use as my CMDR ID. And it bugged me a lot when I realised yesterday night, why didn't devs allow us to change it as on PC.

But then I say hey, it makes sense.... devs want the easiest start as possible (least steps, that's PS4 friendly) so they fill what they could. If I then changed my name, next commander who has the colliding PSN id would have a problem.

So I created new Gmail account and new PSN id. I don't mind, got 3 already when fossilised Sony DB made me throw everything away when I moved to another country.

And guess what.. even I bought Elite digitally and got PS+ on a different account, IT WORKED! Both open play and Horizons.

You could have just opened an sub account utilizing a new gmail and name. If your device (ps4) is set as primary, the new gmail account you created can play on your machine. If you move to another country such as I did. Don't change the address you have on your psn account. Though I live in MX, my ps4 thinks I live in America. Once a sub account has been set up, switch to that player, log in to ED and boom it's a new commader. Thus one can have several cmdr's but can only play one at a time. None of them will carry over their progress in the game to the other. Thus should you have two, one can be a pirate and enjoy that life style or an explorer or ...

Setup a sub account just like you'd do for someone in your family to use. Then swithch players on your ps4 to that player. Boom, new game, new cmdr. However, they are two separate cmdr's, thus can be in different stages of play but not at same time. You can switch back and forth but you'll have to due it via ps4. I've got my real original ps4 account id name which I hate, and a sub account I made just for using in ED. My sub account is allowed to do everything and anything as the main account can do. The main account holder with the unchangeable name has to set the various parameters in the ps4 settings, they can be as tight or loose as the main account holder wishs. Obviously if your and your sub account are one of the same, you can allow it to have total control the same as you. I don't know the max number of sub accounts one can have, but each one can play ED if authorized but they must be tied to their own separate email account.

Atempt to set up a sub account, if the ps4 will allow you to have a desired name stop, using your pc or other device, open a new gmail account using the name the ps4 will allow. Once the gmail is set up. Return to the process and finish setting up the subaccount on the ps4 using the new email address.

NOTE: Your ps4 must be assigned as primary! mm'kay

I'm thinking of creating a sub account as mentioned above. But I already have a second ship and over 200,000 credits. Plus I bought nameplates and everything already! Ack. I guess I'll live with it.

200k is nothing and few pounds for nameplates equal to 2 pints of lager. After 800+h on PC, I was ready to buy the game for PS4 again (in case the solution above didn't work) and spend another £40 so I won't be playing as my girlfriend Alice .
