Custom cockpits? Cockpit variants? Cockpit mods?

Dear FD, wonderful game - thank you very much! I am just having a real problem with off-center cockpits... they throw off my immersion and are constantly distracting me!

I would pay you CASH MONEY ... $10 USD for a centered cockpit for the FDL! Sell it in the store, sell it as a variant ship model or allow for player modding... anything!

Thank you!

If you watched the video, you'd see that the FDL isn't a small ship - slightly longer than a 747 and quite a bit bulkier. So, a cockpit designed for a large-ish vessel and full crew is throwing off your immersion? Interesting logic...

That being said, combat ships like the FDL should *always* have their cockpit centered. It makes no sense to have side-by-side pilots in a combat craft; they should be in single-file.

It's not a small ship indeed, in fact there's more than enough space to push that unimportant passenger seat to the side a bit more and have the seat centered.
As for me, I'd want these cockpit mods too as I really love my Cobra for it's stats (handling etc) but I absolutely hate the offset cockpit, and I will never get used to it nor do I want to.
I notice that I'm not in the center and that irritates me, during normal flying it's mostly ignorable, mosttimes, but during docking it's actively bugging me.

The FdL was even worse when I tested it back in beta, I was so excited for it because of the concept art and I absolutely loved the paintjob when it finally got available which made it even better for me

and then I noticed the offset cockpit...
I'm so glad I got the chance to test it with beta credits because I'd had wasted ages of trading to get that thing live otherwise, only get sick of flying it because it seemed to me not only be offset but also slightly off angle too.
Probably just me but I constantly had the feeling that I'm flying very slightly sideways and it drove me nuts. Didn't even endure it long enough to test out the huge beam laser I put into the heavy bay, or I forgot already how it was, dunno.

Also talking about cockpits, can someone turn off the fricking lights in the front of the ASPs cockpit?
Seriously, having these lights, in your FoV, in a spaceship, in often mostly very dark space, is like driving a car at night with the interior lights on and expecting to see the road ahead of you and it's surroundings just as good as at day... (ok the ASP's lights aren't THAT bright but they really me off)

I would just like to say, the FDL is not a fighter. It was not designed to be and should not be flown as one. Also the cockpit is not " offset", if it was offset then it would be hanging off the side of the ship. It's cockpit was designed to have a pilot and co-pilot sitting side-by-side similar to a commercial jet, this is so the pilot can choose to sit in either seat. I for one don't want vessels designed with only fighter combat in mind and all of them ending up with centered seats. Although I don't like asymmetry, I would like FD to keep the variety of their cockpit designs and not stick themselves to a certain way of designing a cockpit.

And as we've hit the point of personal preference the point of the wish for adjustable cockpits to have the choice to follow our preference has been made. ^^

I don't mind them doing the cockpits the way they do, what I do mind is being limited to "take the ship and endure being molested by the cockpit OR ignore the ship and be left out (as in lacking an alternate that can statwise (handling cargo etc) compete)". Hence the wish to just be able to pick what we prefer, we got paint jobs which are entirely useless if you look at it like that, this is more of a meaningful adjustment as it doesn't only affect visuals but also functionality, as in not irritating me by constantly reminding me that I'm not sitting in the middle.

I've had it often enough in Cobra and FdL that I flew a landing that *felt* centered for me but wasn't thanks to the cockpit, and then I scraped some lampposts, but screw these, that's what shields are for.

Sticking with the example, when we get co-op flying people might even prefer an FdL with a Cobra like side by side cockpit.

I actually laughed out loud when I read this. The FDL is a fighter craft; the wiki describes it as a heavy fighter craft; the fact that it sacrifices internal space for better weaponry indicates its status as a fighter craft; the fact that the game describes it as a favorite of bounty hunters indicates that it's a fighter craft; and the fact that it's a medium vessel and has a huge hardpoint (which only an Anaconda... the largest-flyable-vessel... has otherwise) indicates that it's a fighter craft; the fact that the FDL's hardpoint layout is one of the best in the game for pvp indicates that it's a fighter craft. I'm sorry but you're wrong.

Except this isn't the case in the FDL. The other seat is not only recessed back slightly in comparison to the flight seat, it also has an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT console than the flight seat. It's blatantly obvious that the person who is supposed to occupy that seat fills an entirely different role than the person flying the craft (probably weapons control, since the FDL is a combat vessel). Now, if you were talking about the Imperial Clipper, you'd be 100% correct - it very clearly has two flight-seats. Not so for the FDL.

I can only assume that you've never actually flown an FDL because anyone who has knows it's a fighter craft. They just also know that the offcenter flight-seat is frustrating.
