Custom Control Panel for Elite Dangerous

Hi Everyone, I have been a long time player and after finally getting some friends to join me, I realized the cheaper HOTAS controllers don't entirely come with enough buttons and when playing in VR, peeking under the headset to press a key on your keyboard is totally immersion breaking. Since I started a business making flight training controllers, I decided to make one for Elite Dangerous and it has been selling really well. So I figured I would post it here for you all to see. I have had some customers really excited about it so it is possible some of you have seen it on this forum before from a customer of mine.

Here is a link to the listings for them if anyone wants one for themselves but otherwise, thanks for checking it out!

I would have thought most who use VR would use voice attack, its ability to double joybutton function without even using voice activation would be reason enough
but if a sim cockpit is your thing I am sure they would make a welcome addition

Yeah I'm honestly not sure how I sell so many of these. I don't use voice attack but I have enough inputs on my HOTAS so I don't need it. I sell more of these and other panels for ETS2 and the like than I do for yhe flight simulators which is what I originially started doing this for. But I still have a few designs to do for real cockpit replicas.

I use voice attack and a button box, depends on my mood or the amount of noise I'm able to make at the time. I bought a cheap arcade joystick pack complete with the arcade joystick and buttons. I'm still "testing" various layouts of buttons and what not as I'm a VR player, but I seem to be doing more playing than actually bothering to test and finish it. Consequently it's a thin bit of wood mounted vertically with a bunch of wires hanging out the back at the moment:giggle:. I've mounted the joystick vertically too and I use left and right for radar + and -, and it's so satisfying to drop my landing gear by hitting down on the joystick. You can also use voice attack to react to button pushes, which is nice when I'm moving the layout around and don't want to rebind in EDO.

My aim is to build something that looks much like the OP's boxes (they look great!), tho I don't plan on labeling the buttons/switches; for one I can't read the labels in VR and I'll probably use the box with other sim games such as Assetto Corsa for racing.

I get a few orders from people who don't want the labeling for that reason so I offer a vinyl wrap. I sell ones that are generic too for racing sims and such but people seem to like this one a lot.

I use voice attack and an x56, however I would have to lift the headset to use inara or eddb or look at the squadron discord. In the end I bought OVRdrop and have the webpages display in the headset. They flip in when I look in a particular direction. Typing is challenging but you quickly get used to it and don't have to lift the HMD.

Do you ship to the UK because I'd be interested in the racing boxes you do?
