Newcomer / Intro Custom paintwork not visible

I just bought one of the custom paintworks from the game shop for my asp. It shows alright in the outfitting screen, but not ingame; when I look to the side, the part of my ship that is visible to me is still the default black, instead of the white paintwork I selected. Relogging/restarting didn't fix it. Anyone expiriencing the same? Is it MEANT to be only visible in the outfitting screen? In that case I'd seriously feel ripped off for my money.

Edit: Argh! Please nevermind the typo in the thread title!

Yes it is meant to be that way. The paintwork are meant to be seen by others & during outfitting. The assets for cockpit are not updated by paintworks. Maybe they will in the future, but it has been that way since paintwork is introduced.

The reason they give paintworks for ships with visible hulls are due to community demand. The original ships that can be painted has no external hull visible, so they can be painted without losing immersion as you can not see anything from there. Even then people with Oculus Rift can peek out and see that the hull was not painted for the cockpit asset.

It's kind of "be careful with what you wished for" thing

Well, You can see the nose, if you have Anaconda, for instance. :p

Seriously though. Give it a few months. We will be given ways of admiring our ships. :)

How much of a custom paintjob can you see sitting in the driver's seat of a car? I guess the hood, but not much else. In a jet, basically none of it. Doesn't mean people don't pay for custom paint, though. Women can't see makeup on their own face, but they still wear it.

OP has a valid point.

I'd be pretty upset if I paid a tenner for a chrome Cobra skin and I could only see it in the outfitting screen. It's exactly why I haven't bought anything yet.

Guaranteed they will fix all this otherwise nobody will buy the skins.

I'd be ok if I was in a cockpit with no visible ship parts, like the Cobra for example. But especially in the Lakon ships you can see a huge part of what I believe to be thrusters to both sides of the cockpit. It just feels weird knowing that your ship should be white and then seeing those huge blacks bulks when you look to the side (or at the menu screens). Well, I guess it can't be helped. Luckily the Asp paintwork wasn't too expensive. Hoping to get the desired look when some sort of third person view (camera drones) will be introduced. If that doesn't show the custom paintwork as well, it would be pretty lame though.
