Custom ship paints

Why ED dont have ability for commanders to create their own paintjob, lets say for 10k ARX a slot for a ship, those paints could be sold by fdev to other player and if popular creator would be compansated. All parties happy

The usual suspicion voiced when this idea comes up is that it would cost FDev too much time and effort to police the paints for obscenities and copyright violations to be worth it.

Let people decide if its apropriate and ūf not place report, so ppl will police them, though i dont know about cpoyrights

They wouldn't be visible to other players who haven't downloaded the relevant file. However, that could mitigate the problem aRJay mentioned: no need for Frontier to police them if only the player can see them.

Fully bespoke liveries would be a nightmare to manage. But customizable colors and materials for both liveries and decals would be nice, so everyone can pick between flat black, metallic pink, glowing sickly green or whatever they wish for racing stripes on their Cobra🙃

just do what Counter-Strike does and have community workshops. popular or curated winners get their skin in the game with a cut of the profit
