Customisable interiors

Not going to happen. Or at least, even if it does, it won't be for a VERY long time.
We'll be getting flair for our cockpits, like bobbleheads, etc. But little things like that are going to be about it.

You don't really get too many options to change your interior in an actual, modern day vehicle. You probably will get even fewer in Elite Dangerous.

I don't doubt they are already working on it, they'd be daft not to. One of the biggest negative responses to ship skins was "why should I buy one? I can't see it".

Personally I would immediately buy a walnut dash for my FdL and a scruffy wires-hanging-out cockpit for the python.

You can do a lot of things in a modern day car. Change the head unit, change the LED lights, change the carpet, change the seat lining, etc.

And it may not happen but if you don't ask...

Exactly, you can see the interiors!

Frontier has a hard enough time making 3 color paint jobs, and regularly makes mistakes on the simplest of them. Getting new cosmetics for the interiors out of them is going to be like pulling teeth from a Yeti in the middle of a fever dream.

They're still investing time into new paint jobs we can't see 99% of the time pretty often.
It doesn't make sense to me seeing as they'd make way more money from interior/cockpit skins. WAY more.

First they'd have to finish modelling the ship interiors for walking around in. Then they may be able to add props and variations.
