Ok I got it working but the buttons on the pad are using some of the same characters I still use the keyboard for.

If I can figure out the design page,I can try to make one that only uses characters I do not.

I wonder if I used shift+ plus the character would that work?

It is now good to go...you have to download a air keyboard server onto your pc.
The problem of the app stepping on buttons I already used is to make a new keyboard by cloning the existant one..then you can say what button does what...so you can now map it to match your regular keyboard bindings exact.
This is not as useful to those who have straight up pc set-up as it is easier to use the keyboard especially if you use WASD for controling thrust and yaw.....but if you are going for a home cockpit setup this thing rocks and will give your setup a nice fighter plane feel to it. I can see me using this alot once I get my saitek throttle in the mail.
