cv1 + 2600k + gtx1080 . constant image freeze

hi all,
my setup (i7-2600k, gtx 1080, 16G, game in sdd, ethernet fiber 1G)

strange bug here. I always play in vr, and with hdm quality to 1.5, (ed profiler), no issues. i can play 2 or 3 or 4h without issue.

but since 2 week, game is unplayable. i can play 5 minutes, with some lag, and suddenly image freeze. i can hear the sound (trottle work, when i tape esc, i hear option menu, etc...) but screen in game completly freeze. i i return in oculus home, oculus work, all seems ok. but the game stay frozen.

so i uninstall, re - install oculus version, kill all another process (steam etc..., discord,...), same prob.

so i change in ed setting (1 supersampling, 1 hdmi quality) and 1.25 with oculus debug tools.
game very very fluide, but i hear parasite in headphone, but stay very fluide, and few minute laters..... image freeze again.

no prob in dxdiag.
my oculus broken ? (but all seems ok in oculus home)

It’s been a while since I played but I always used to start the game from the desk top icon and not oculus home, it may be worth trying that in-case it’s Oculus’s fault?

A few months back I had problems with my anti-virus (AVG Free) stealing window focus away from Elite, causing my headset to have similar freezes. I had to do an uninstall & reinstall of AVG to cure that issue.

@Thespen Tombs - With the new Rift software Oculus Home needs to be running, starting ED on its own just gives a black screen although the game can be heard running.

I remove last month avast and i use Windows anti virus. But perhaps à bad param with this antivirus, i will Check)

I had this exact issue when trying to run on my laptop. Never really did narrow it down to a specific cause, though it seemed to go longer running through Steam than it did running through Oculus. Ultimately I built a new computer and haven't had an issue since. I was not running aftermarket antivirus, just Windows Defender, so I never had any of those issues.

have you - by any chance - updated GPU drivers?

If yes, roll back the gpu drivers. They are causing some serious issues with CV1

On my new build I haven't had a single issue with new drivers. Had some significant compatibility issues on the laptop, so definitely worth a shot.

I have similar issue but only when on planets with SRV, I run 4k with 2080 card. Game goes on but sceen is frozen. Makes it unplayable.
