CV1 cpu requirements...

So I'm planning on splurging soon and getting the CV1.
I had a DK2 a while back, and while I loved the immersion of the rift, the poor DK2 resolution gave me headaches after a while. So I sold it just before the CV1 was released.

Anyway, my pc is fully compliant with the new rift reqs, except for the CPU. I have an AMD FX-4170 (quad-core 4Ghz). Apparently that's not up to snuff. :(
Is anyone running the new CV1 with a less than optimal CPU? I don't mind if I have to turn down the graphics settings a bit. I just don't want a jittery mess or any other hiccups because the cpu is lacking.

I run a I5 2550K @4.2 ghz and a GTX 980. Works fine. ED is way more gpu than cpu intensive. Since your cpu is only about 2/3 the power of mine, you may come up short. ED has higher that VR minimum spec (min gtx 980, 16 gig ram) vs 970 and 8 gig ram.

Thanks.
My GPU is the R9 290x, which is apparently the bare min on their GPU reqs. :(
hmmm... maybe a cpu upgrade might actually be needed then. Which would mean a motherboard upgrade as well... ugh.
I suppose I could just get the rift first and see for myself.

The 290 being similar to the gtx 970 is under power for ED and given your cpu, I would think you'll have problems. other made for vr games may work as long as the graphics are not to high. Good luck

If a cv1 is breaking the bank i'd recommend trying one first if you havent already as you might be disappointed, especially on a lower spec setup. I'd rate the experience as maybe 5 to 10% better than DK2 overall. Don't get me wrong i already thought the DK2 was incredible once runtime 1.3 hit, i think just dont expect a massive leap...
