CV1 with a 970? Anyone tried it yet?

Like the title said just wondering if anyone has given it a go even though its below recommended, as im waiting for the 980ti to drop in price (hopefully soon.... )

I have an i5-4670k, 8gb ram and a gtx770. Runs awesome on a DK2 75fps on medium and VR high. Smooth as butter.

I have exact same kit but a gtx970; Horizons runs smooth on DK2, even on planet surface. Consistent 75fps and all on high settings. I am awaiting a CV1 and thought I'd need to upgrade my gpu at least, but now I am not so sure.

I'm not sure how you guys are managing this. GTX 970 and 5820K here, personally I find it struggles on planetary surfaces at times on the VR High setting. It's not juddery - Async timewarp sees to that (it's glorious) but it's clearly not running 75FPS at all times in busy planetary environments, at least not for me.

Well... OK, so it IS locked at 75Hz, thanks to ATW. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what we're talking about though. If by running smooth we do just mean it's never juddery, then yeah it's lovely and smooth. Far, FAR better than it could have been back on 0.8! But for me it's only always 75Hz; it's not always 75FPS. I hope that makes sense.

Make sure you have ambient occlusion switched off, I set up a friends rig with the 970 & DK2, he's getting smooth performance on planets, I set everything to ultra on rig with these exceptions -

Shadows - Medium
Ambient occlusion - OFF
Terrain quality - Medium

On my Rig with a 980TI, everything is maxed, ambient occlusion switched off.

I have a new CV1 with a GTX 970 on an I7-4790K

I was really not expecting it to work this well with ED. Planets seem pretty good on high settings, I've not experimented much with the lower setting. Also, not had a chance yet to try SRV in the rift, will do soon. I actually haven't checked what my FPS drops down to, but it didn't stand out as a problem. I was expecting to have to mess around to get it to be playable enough not to feel sick. I havent' seen any of this smearing others have mentioned so far.

Having upgraded from my Kickstarter DK1 the immersion is astonishing to me. Walking around the cockpits gives a feeling of reality and scale that can't be described. I keep reaching out to touch the pilots chair and bumping into my own walls trying to take a closer look out of the window. Try getting an external view of the landing platform and standing beside your own ship and watching the station traffic pass by.
