Cybernetics

Can anyone please tell me what the official lore has to say about cybernetics?

I know that the legendary Jaques is a cyborg, but I seem to recall reading that cybernetics in general is illegal, or at best frowned upon.

I am sure it depends on ideology and government. The "purists" that call for humanities preservation will of course oppose any augmentation. Corporations and autocrats might not shy away. Theocrats will - unless machines are part of their belief - surely call it a sin.

I am not sure what the official stance on non-accident related augments is in either superpower. I know AI's have a bad reputation after some got too intelligent and rebelled. So I expect mostly VI's without self-learning / preservation being used.
