With favourable market conditions in Ngurii providing an abundance of Soontill Relics at the start of the cycle, it comes as no surprise that most powers put up impressive acquisition numbers this week.
Not all though. The ongoing conflict in Beta-3 Tucani seemed to have kept both the Emperor and the Pirate King from making any significant gains. Furthermore, neither Patreus nor Archer took advantage of the short lived rares boom. The latter preferring to focus on strongholding instead.
Unfortunately for Nakato Kaine, her recently acquired lead on Pranav Antal has come to an abrupt end, with the Sim-Guru passing the Alliance Councillor by a handful of systems.
Shortly after this news reached the Kaine stronghold of Nessa, drama unfolded during the weekly press conference at Dagr's Rest. A reporter from The Daily Utopian asked a member of Makhai's Vorpal Wing:
"Being overtaken so soon must come as a heavy blow to you, although hardly surprising to us. Our simulations predicted as much. Care to comment?"
It took several members of security to restrain the enraged Vorpal operative:
"Comment?! I'll give you a comment! You can stick your [Redacted] simulations up your [Redacted] ! When was the last you took 50 (systems) in a cycle!?"
As the commander was reluctantly dragged from the room, he somehow managed to briefly break free, hurling one of Kaine's complimentary lime green paper-weights at the reporter, impressively landing a strike to the side of his predictably shaven head.
"How's that for a heavy blow? You [Redacted]!"
The press conference came to an abrupt end. The reprimanded officer was promoted shortly afterwards.
With less than 20 systems separating Kaine and Archer in the rankings - and Antal sat in the middle once more - analysts agree that Kaine needs to make a significant move soon, if she is to keep up the pressure on her immediate rivals.
