Cycle 38
It was a week dominated by the much anticipated release of Zorgon Peterson's Panther Clipper MkII.
This behemoth of a ship had most CMDRs swooning over its capability as a bulk hauler. But it should come as no surprise that the many mining enthusiasts among the Kaine faithful were more interested in putting it through its paces in their local metallic ring of choice.
One Vorpal CMDR took members of the press for a guided tour of their shieldless laser mining build. That brand new ship smell was abundant.
"She's a beauty ain't she!? I can get 20 collector limpets out simultaneously no worries... and that's with nearly 900t cargo space"
The CMDR was then asked about a reported "MAKH mining rave" where several teams focus their combined firepower on the same asteroid, moving from one rock to the next with frightening efficiency:
"Yeah, me and a few others took the MkII out for a spin earlier. It didn't disappoint! I could tell you which system we sold in for merits... but then I'd have to kill you"
An awkward silence followed - the reporter not knowing if this was a joke or not, especially considering Makhai's fearsome reputation.
"Just kidding! Jeez, you look as pale as an icy ring!"
In other news, Councillor Kaine has gained a modest 3 acquisitions and 1 new stronghold this past cycle. Whilst both Archer and Antal pulled ahead slightly, Delaine did not manage to make up any ground behind Kaine.
