Powerplay Faction: Aisling Duval Cycle 404: Agreement Not Found (February 23rd to March 2nd 2023/3309)

Aisling is very proud of her haulers who completed the forting of top and high priority spheres from Simyr down to Syntheng. Our vote was a solid 82% for consolidation. Nothing much can hurt us while we keep this up. Imperial Xeno Defence cleared Vogulu and HIP 2422. Meanwhile Li Yong Rui’s HIP 20577 is the first lost Powerplay system, eaten by the ‘goids.

LYR’s accidental expansion to HIP 10079 was opposed by conventional means. It was a close-run thing, with triggers stacked in favour of those trying to push it: 27,214 merits almost matched the opposition’s 91,860 (800% vs 947%). Less than confident about this outcome, it seems LYR arranged red-team undermining of HR 1254, so is in turmoil this week.

Li’s latest vote scraped over the line, alongside most others. One exception was Denton Patreus, who fell short at 73%. As before, the Imperial Beefcake won’t be trying to gain the loss-making Caph. Another exception to the agreement to vote consolidation was deliberate, by Zachary Hudson.

Aisling’s diplomats spent considerable time last week formulating proposals to firm up the ceasefire. In response, an hour before EOC tick, a Federal representative revealed that they would now be pursuing what they imagine will be profitable expansions. Hudson’s choice of Yemotepa is no surprise, after many weeks of bitter BGS warfare in the hope of gaining favourable triggers. It was always when and not if.

This is a breach of the truce. To quote this same diplomat: “our position is that breaking any part of an official agreement would nullify the rest of the agreement and everything would become fair game again.” So it is, and not by our hands. Good luck out there in the week ahead.

Objectives for Cycle 405 (until March 9th)
  • Vote for Consolidation! Voting is the most important thing you can do for AD, so make sure to maintain rank 2! It only takes 100 merits and four weeks of pledge time. Here's where to vote in the UI. Early votes are the best kind of votes!
  • Check the Trello for dynamic fortification targets! This is updated more frequently than the in-game menu. Please, ONLY fortify systems listed on the Trello. There are lots of top-priority systems left to help complete.
  • Please do not prepare any systems this week. Spare media materials can be safely delivered to HIP 35209.
  • Combat merits: Oppose Zachary Hudson’s expansion to Yemotepa.
  • AX: the first Imperial Xeno Defence target this cycle is to assist the liberation of HIP 30260, the next will be Luggerates. Evacuate passengers in cabins and wounded in pods, complete delivery missions, kill thargoids, complete AX CZs and hand in the bonds.
  • Join the Discord for guides, mentoring, BGS, insight and combat targets! Remember: PP UI bad, Discord good. Powerplay is a community game, so connect with us.

Greetings!

Please stop misrepresenting the Federation in your posts regarding the Truce and the ongoing negotiations in the Power Summit. I understand that there are roleplay elements at play in your post here, but I wish to correct a few extremely misleading statements in this post. All these points have been repeated ad nauseam in the Power Summit, but I am repeating them here for the benefit of those who do not have access to the Power Summit discussions.

First, the repeated assertion that there has been a continued and agreed upon truce the past couple cycles is entirely wrong. According to even your own prior posts, the agreed-upon-implicit ceasefire ended in c402. It is now c405. From c402 to c404, the Federation ran an internal survey to determine what its members desired going forward, including questions regarding a continued ceasefire with the Empire.

The overwhelming result of this survey was that most Federal members were willing to limit direct hostilities against the Empire in order to deal with the Thargoids, but that the Federation should also be free to pursue means of shoring up Federal CC balances particularly to defend against Thargoid incursions deeper into the Bubble and loss of CC as a result. In short, our members wished to gain more defense against the Thargoids pushing into the Bubble, and were comfortable doing that so long as it did not attack other Powers. As such, the decision was made that Federal Powers were no longer comfortable staying indefinitely vulnerable, and would begin making efforts to shore up our CC balance to prevent loss of systems as the Thargoids pushed deeper into the Bubble. That decision was well within our rights as a Power, especially since it harmed no other Power.

The Imperial response to being told that 'the Federation was not comfortable remaining indefinitely vulnerable and would like to improve our CC balance in further agreements' has been largely childish and disproportionate. The prevailing fear is that if the Federation gains any amount of CC, that that extra CC will be used at some indeterminate point in the future as a Weapon against the Empire, and that therefore the Federation must remain -again- indefinitely vulnerable to the current Thargoid threat, which is an obviously unreasonable request of the Empire. Evidently the Empire is more paranoid of Hudson or Winters gaining any amount of CC than they are of the Thargoids currently pushing on the border, which says plenty by itself.

Nonetheless, the Federation remains open to continued negotiations, and invites other Powers to propose diplomatic solutions that benefit both parties during the continuance of the Thargoid War. Absent of any agreements, the Federation will continue to expand to neutral space in an attempt to build some defense against the Thargoids. Obviously the first line of defense is to prevent the Thargoids from expanding in the first place, so we wish to make it clear that we do not want to pull resources away from anti-xeno activities. But the desire to shore up our CC stems from the belief that the Thargoids will continue to push deeper into the Bubble. If you are unhappy with the Federation's decision, please feel free to propose an actual diplomatic solution that, again, benefits both sides wishes. You may also directly oppose the expansions if you so wish, but then that will pull resources away from fighting the Thargoids themselves, leaving your own frontlines weakened.

Lastly, I will not be replying to messages in this thread as there are many more direct means of communication. You can contact us on our FUC Discord or through the Power Summit on the Defense Council of Humanity's Discord. However, as I said at the beginning, please stop misrepresenting us as an evil organization where everything we do is a malicious attempt to mislead or somehow get you. We are natural in-game enemies and can have plenty of disagreements and wars, but if we were half as conniving and evil as you make us out to be, we would be out running the world, not playing this game. o7

Greetings to you too, Fezix.
I do not agree that my post is at all factually inaccurate.
But as you say, not the place to negotiate.
