Cytoscrambler - Is it really as useless as most people tell?

Hi Commanders,


A lot of people told how useless is Torval's Mining lance, purposed to offer both mining and offensive capability to the beam...
However in the end, it is actually great at sampling (stripping a few fragments and analyzing their content) the asteroids nearby since the effective range is around 2km (vs 500m for regular mining lasers). I'd personally equip one, but use regular ones for the extraction process.

Now what about this (in)famous Cytoscrambler? Has anybody found a real use for this thing? If so, how? PvE, PvP, in a wing for some kind of efficient strategy?
I know, nice color, disco effect...but...seriously, any serious reason to use this? Anything, even if far from its initial purpose?

I approached it with some optimism - surely it couldn't be as bad as people were making it out to be?

I bought two for good measure and got in real close, point-blank range, and let 'em rip.

It's been tested thoroughly and basic weapons are better than it in every way. It hasn't been updated so it is really pointless to start another thread when all the info has already been hashed out.

Thanks, I read that as well.
Same was told about the Mining lance (more energy/heat than class 1 mining laser, less efficient against asteroid, less damage than class 1 beam, hard to aim), however an unexpected use of the same is at sampling (see initial post above).

I am just wondering if there is not also an unexpected use of the Cytoscrambler, which would explain why FD refused to tweak it...

Its just stupid that you cant freely buy these new weapons and try new outfits. I think much better system would be that you could buy them without any restrictions. Or if you arent plwdged you have to pay triple price for the outfit.

Im not going to waste 4 weeks that I could just test this weapon

Triple price for the Cytoscrambler? About 25k for one? Still too expensive for what it does...
